Or, um, Miari nikki.
Well, before I start explaining this show let me just explain that my expression and thoughts on this throughout most of the show went a little bit like this.
1st episode: ... I'm waiting.
opening:
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
From that point until the end of the show about 80% of the time:
Messed up. Really, really messed up. In a psychological way. Despite this the show sneaks in some humour and ecchi. Sometimes the ecchi is terrifying in a psychological way but nothing bad is shown. Just the main female yandere protagonist wandering around in her underwear looking, as always, batsh** insane but anyway I digress. Basically this show can make fanservice disturbing, not scary, disturbing.
Anyway the plot... protagonist Yukiteru Amano is a loner with no friends, and keeps a diary on his phone of all places as an onlooker to events around him.
But he's secretly lonely and dieng inside, so he decides that the PERFECT imaginary friends to stave off loneliness would be the god of time and space, Deus Ex Machina and his assistant Murmur.
However Deus isn't really imaginary as he upgrades Yuki's phone diary to record future events in it as if he had already written in them, in other words it records the events that he WILL record around him. It makes sense when you see it.
Anyway Yuki uses it to cheat in tests and avoid getting beat up until he reads that someones going to kill him.
That Yandere I mentioned earlier appears at this point, Yuno Gasai, and declares her love for him, and do you know what a yandere is? I learnt it from a show. Someone who becomes psychotically insane due to obsessive love. She kills a great many people.
Anyway to cut a long story short Yuki and Yuno get caught in a survival game orchestrated by Deus to determine the next person to take Deus' place. All 12 participants also have future diary's in some form or another which tend to predict different future events and work differently depending on the owner.
Did I mention that most of them are also psychotically insane? Did I mention just about everyone is insane beyond the boundaries one would expect even a human in a loony bin to be in this show?
Not for the weak of heart.
Only available in japanese subs but there is a dub by funimation on the way.
I recommend watching it. If only because of the epic opening. Actually the soundtrack as a whole is pretty good. Oh, and it's current, the last episode was literally released last monday. With heavy implications of a sequel that I'm looking forward too because the show has an ending thats conclusive but on the flip side making you hunger for more.
Ok I'm going to shut up now.
