Update: Need some help deciding on some new software. It's for making better renders. I've posted the render below, so you can see it with the old pics (GFX-06 Iris Drone was also rendered with the new software if you want more examples). Please vote so i know whether to continue with the new software or not.
Hey guys! I heard there was some love for Sigma Iris 2 floating around these boards, and after i tried it, i have to agree. I solo'd the entire Dark Knight mission with him on play 6 today, and only at level 5! How could i not make a toy of this guy?
This model, you can consider as a stepping stone to the more 'human' borgs, as i had to redo a lot of the joints to get them to fit into Sigma Iris 2's lean frame. Just getting the knee joints to work and not leave an unsightly gap when bent took ages, and then i had to repeat it for the elbows as well. But i think i got reasonably close to an 'invisible' joint; the only thing you see is a slight gap when he bends his knees. Otherwise, when his leg's straight, almost no sign of a joint. This means all the human characters are now real possibilities.
The other thing that took a lot of time (actually, longer than all the joints put together) were those wings. Sculpting them out was a pain, and i almost overloaded the program with too complex a curvature on more than on occasion. That, and Sigma Iris 2's wings never stop flapping, even in his Specs menu, so i had to make an educated guess as to what it'd look like. Still, i think the end result fits him, and certainly makes him look evil. Almost bat-like, come to think of it.
Articulation comes from the standard joints i use, so he's got ball joints for ankles, knees, hips, shoulders and elbows. His head (heads?) however, is fixed, as it's connected via a translucent part, as are his upper and lower bodies. I'm hoping to have this made in two parts. Standard parts for the body, and that translucent part, well, translucent.
Anyways, hope you guys like it. I just need to save up some money and then get this thing printed.
Note: I am aware the top of the wings should be red. I've already overloaded my computer program with those wings more than once, i'm not risking modifying those wings in any way.
