Prologue
Kaddle Creek High School, Kaddle Creek, Kansas.
A girl who looks as though she was made of silver walks into the room, literally glowing, with a tall, thin man in a tux, beady eyes, curly brown hair and a black goatee walk into Mrs. Crider's AP AP Calculus class. The teacher speaks up,
"This is our school's newest student, Echo Callahan. Treat her respectfully and kindly."
Several murmurs are heard.
"She's too young!"
"That body says otherwise. I'd love to-"
"Shush! That's no way to treat a new girl."
"With a glow like that, she'll steal the competition!"
"uh...uhh..."
A sandy brown haired, blue eyed, boy is staring wide eyed at her.
(That face, that sparkling glow, those eyes...! She's got this...shy, cute, sexiness about her! like a weakened angel...)
While the boy is fantasizing, the man whispers something in the teacher's ear. She quiets them, announcing;
"She has a rare disorder, and is unable to speak. Now,, why don't you sit in the empty desk next to...Adric over there."
she points to the boy. She quietly heads over and sits, and Mrs. Crider continues teaching. Adric speaks up.
"H-Hi. My name's Adric."
She responds.
"Hi. My name's...."
"Echo, right?"
"Echo, right."
She nods. She leans up from her desk and studies his face, beaming. She is unaware Adric can see down her top. He gets a small nosebleed.
"So you can speak?"
The teacher is paying no attention. She shrugs.
"You don't know?"
"Don't know."
He appears confused.
"But you spoke there. So you can, right?"
She is looking at the man, who finally leaves, glaring at her.
She looks back and shakes her head.
The bell rings, and they grab their books. Adric looks at her, saying, "Funny how you came in last day of the semester. Why don't I show you around before you leave for break? And maybe I could come over to your house or invite you to mine! That sound ok?"
"Ok."
They walk out.
