This concept applies to many video games, but for me, especially to Gotcha Force. Don't get me wrong; Gotcha Force has a nice soundtrack, and the sound effects can help with anticipating an opponent's moves. A lot of us, however, like to play this game to a point others would find 'ad nauseum' (I certainly play that much, at least), and sometimes it's nice to hear something different after hours of the same soundtrack.
I think most people here know the settings for music/SE/voice settings in the options menu in Gotcha Force are...well...kind of broken (the SE can decrease by like one notch...maybe), so unfortunately muting the TV is the only way to properly hear another soundtrack. People will have their own preferences of music, so there's no real right or wrong answers here. I have no intention of being obnoxiously opinionated about people's responses, and hope no one else will make people feel bad by doing so. I was just curious about what everyone likes to listen to.
Personally, I'm a big fan of K-pop and J-pop, so I listen to a lot of their music pretty much anywhere, video games included. In J-pop I tend to stick to rock bands, so bands like Girugamesh are fun to listen to when taking on a huge death force army. I'm a bit of a 'shameless fanboy' when it comes to K-pop (really big Boa fan), but for video games I like to listen to songs like Super Junior's Bonamana or Mr Simple, or songs from Shinee, 2PM, SS501, etc. I won't bother posting Youtube links on these; just put it in the search bar and you'll be presented with at least twenty ways to listen to each song. This stuff is insanely popular on the east side of the world.
Apart from that, I find fast-paced metal, electronic, or techno music are the most fun genres to listen to when playing Gotcha Force. There's an abridged Youtube series called 'Code MENT' from 'purpleeyeswt*' (there's an f instead of a star, but I didn't want to upset the mods) that uses fast-paced techno songs for some scenes. He's pretty good about listing those things in the description, and I really want to just list them here now, but I'm at work and the network won't let me on Youtube from here.
Does anyone else do this? What do you guys listen to when playing Gotcha Force, or any other game? Even if you don't, what kind of music would be best suited for it, in your opinion?
