PIPA is similar to SOPA, but in the Senate while SOPA was in the House. SOPA was rejected by the House, but PIPA is still alive.

My theory is it's part of their plot to confuse the public. All this talk about SOPA being evil will surely generate responses from Mexicans in support of sopa. I mean, who doesn't like soup?

Are they making these acronyms spanish words on purpose? In my language, sopa means trash and pipa means squeak.

Yay! I'm sure PIPA wont come to pass either, its just stupid what they were trying to do and hackers would have got past it anyway while the innocent fans are left stranded.

SOPA is definantly not dead. But it has taken a serious blow, and congress does plan to revise it at the very least. The new SOPA is no longer include the most controversial plan to "blacklist" domain names, but still will keep some controversila plans such as the Justice Department having to ability to cut off funds from supposed "blacklist" websites, which can still greatly damage them. I wonder if Proboards recieves such payment... Whatever the case may be, it will not be enogh that these two bills being fixed is enough. They need to be outright killed. I found out this information from this news artical. redtape.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/13/10151672-sopa-opponents-gaining-momentum-wikipedia-google-join-protestAlso does anyone know any site that is going to protest tommarow?

Reddit, Imgur, Wikipedia, and Minecraft are going down I think. Some people are saying there will be a Tumblr blackout but from what I've seen it's just Tumblr users saying stuff.

I haven't experienced any blackouts on sites. I'm not sure how protesting will work, other than showing that a crap ton of conveniences on the internet wont work if this comes to pass. Scratch that, protests ahoy!

I'm trying to sign petitions however they always ask for a zip code and I have no idea what they are... colour me stupid. A zip code is a five-digit (actually nine, I think, but nobody ever uses more than five) number that's somehow used in shipping or something... in America. They may also be called postal codes, I think.

Megaupload was taken down today.
Yeeeee
I'm a step closer to the end of my pirate days. I always feel a little guilty downloading stuff illegally, but stuff is just so dang accessible it's hard not to...
I somewhat support this new movement, but they're going ridiculously far with suing/imprisoning people for using songs in their videos, shutting down live streams, etc..
But people are also not completely justified against it. Society now has developed so far into piracy that no one even notices the illegal things they do anymore... And everyone's getting salty at SOPA because our modern 'free' lifestyles may go down the drain.
I think the truth is, we desperately need an anti-piracy act, but what we're getting now is absurd. Well, call me crazy, but I don't really care what happens, I'm pretty eager to see how the world will change if it does come to pass.
As irrational and harsh as it is, though, you have to admit, it shows just how deep society has gone into piracy.

SOPA happened because of ignorant people pirating without realising it. Regardless, wasn't there a video a while ago saying that people who support SOPA were also the same people who started up piracy websites? If thats the case, then there is virtually no justification in SOPA's actions.
