BOOOM! WALL OF TEXT! This is the entire plot of shadow sun, to be revised and changed as necessary, and there WILL be changes, such as those Thaddie suggested to me.
Many years ago, the human race devised a way way to harness the energy of the sun through machines called sol generators. these magical devices allowed people to do marvellous things, they could fly, dive deep into the sea, master the elements, and increase their fighting ability through the use of their sol drives which turned their emotions into power. however, people became too reliant on the sol generators. and, one day, the sun grew weak and started to die, meaning there was not enough energy for the sol generators. in a state of confusion and fear, man dug deep into the ground where it was still warm, and used the sol generators at their most basic form using energy from the planet's core to survive. soon, after a few years had past man had grown accustomed to the underground world. then, a man (joseph/lucian) returned to the world above, and led the people out into the light, as the sun was now burning brightly again. the game takes place about 500 years after this event, and countries and basic technologies have been made and discovered, although most of the sol generators have been lost to to the dark ones, an evolved race of the humans who stayed underground to follow their old god made flesh, Anubis. The game begins in Kasi, Cain and Florians home village, Cain is teaching Florian some basic fighting techniques in the flower field when suddenly, dark shadows rise from the earth and begin to wreck the place. eventually the village residents have to hide underground, in a basement underneath the town hall. Cain and Florian are enlisted by the mayor to go deeper into the basement to look for some food. instead they find a stone guardian protecting some indecipherable documents. the pair decide to give these to their cousin Veto to decipher. the mayor sends them through a secret passage leading outside the village. along the way, they meet an enigmatic man named Lucian who hands Florian an amulet which he claims is important . when they meet Veto, he deciphers the document which tells them of the 4 grand sol generators, magical machines of the old civilisation that were used to increase the power of the sun to make the sol generators more powerful in a crisis. the two main nations on the planet (Esparancia and Menthira) each had 2 grand sol generators. To stop the other Nation from sabotaging their Grand sol generators the Nations had them hidden in secret locations and only the highest leading figures knew of their locations and even fewer knew of the deadly traps and creatures guarding them! Veto then gives Cain and Florian sol drives of their own to use, which increases their attack strength through the emotions they feel in battle, each emotion can increase or decrease their stats and abilities each and emotion can be levelled up into more powerful emotions, heading through 6 stages. each stage introduces a new path to go through, so their are many paths to go through. once the 6th stage is maxed out you unlock one of the characters most powerful attacks, the mystic overdrive. the 3 head of to Esparancia first, because it is nearest. because they have to get their by boat, they head to port. at the port they are attacked by a mysterious woman. after her failure, she apologises, thinking that they were somebody else. she introduces herself as Charna. she proceeds to join the party, not taking no for answer. while the party are journeying on the ship, Florian begins seeing strange visions. Once they have arrived at the Esparanthian port town, Rusi. from the port town they head to Grand Bastion, Capitol city of Esparanthia. at the city gates the party encounter a dragon, which had been attacking the city for weeks, forcing them to close the gates and not allow access. the party defeat the dragon, saving the city and finally being able to enter. a long search for information on the grand sol generators spread over 3 days takes place in Grand Bastion. eventually they meet Amy, a childhood friend of Florians working in the city as a librarian. she joins the party and takes them to a place just behind the town, which, judged upon the books she's read and the rumours she's heard, lead to the grand sol generator. the dungeon uses light reflecting puzzles to open to new rooms and allow progress through the dungeon. the boss of the dungeon is once again the Grand Bastion guardian, however he has drawn in energy from the sol generator to grow 3 heads, more powers and a massive increase in size. each head must be stunned with the the element its weak too or just a lot of damage (each head = fire, water, and earth) then Cain runs up the fallen head and slices it off at the end of the neck, all the while avoiding the other two heads attacks, the process is then repeated with the other 2 heads. once they kill the dragon for good, they activate the grand sol generator, however, Florian faints and the party quickly leaves to let him get some rest. Veto looks after and looks into Florians sudden collapse. Veto comes to the conclusion that florins amulet is used as a conductor for the slight amount of excess sol energy exerted from the Grand sol generator that it doesn't use running the machine. even this small amount of power is too much for florian to handle, which is why he fainted, but florian insists upon placing the amulet into his sol drive in an attempt to make him stronger and more useful during the adventure. this grants him new powers, and the cost of sudden collapse and fatigue. Florinas stats rise and he learns the special ability light heal, which revives a party member with half HP. Veto suggests heading to Scienta, the city of knowledge. unfortunately, upon arriving at port Rusi to go to the city, an invasion force from Menthira arrives and seizes the town, leading to a conflict the party is forced to get involved in. during a lapse in enemy defences, the party are able to escape and immediately go to inform the king of Esparanthia at Grand Bastian. on the field just after leaving Rusi, they are confronted by a shining, enigmatic figure incased in golden armour. he swiftly defeats the party, they were out of his league entirely. unconscious, the Menthiran invasion force capture the party and take them to Fort Munio, a large prison fortress on an island just off the coast of Menthira, the other side of the world. When the party awake, they find that they are in separate cells and that their equipment, items, and cloths have been taken away from them to be replaced with simple prison cloths and shock collars. While the other characters are alone in their cells, Cain shares a cell with a demented old man whom is scared of the floor, believing there to be a daemon who plans to drag him into a dark abyss forever. so, this old man had himself chained to the ceiling. In Cain's dreams, a hooded figure approached him. the ominous figure talks words in another language, before attacking Cain. Cain must defeat this thing in his dreams. when Cain awakes, he finds that the old man is on the floor, dead, and catches a glimpse of a shadow escaping through his now open cell door. as Cain makes his way through the fortress looking for Florian and the rest, as well as the parties equipment, he must avoid being caught by guards and must also evade the relentless shadow that is hiding in the shadows, waiting to attack. If Cain is caught by the guards, he returns to the cell and the shadow opens the door again, if the shadow gets him, Cain must once again fight the hooded figure in his dreams. he first finds Veto, and then he finds a guard room which Amy and Charna are in, the guards interrogating them. after dispatching the guards using their bare fists and Veto's magic, Cain hurriedly goes looking for Florian, worried for him due to the way Amy and Charna were treated. After finding Florian's cell, the shadow that had been following then enters Charna's body, causing her to fall unconscious, though Cain and the party don't notice the shadow, assuming Charna's collapse to simply be exhaustion. A door opens leading to where the parties equipment, items, and clothes opens, they remove their collars and Charna regains consciousness in here. once they are ready, another door opens leading to an empty chamber. in this chamber the shadow exits Charna's body and manifests itself into a giant shadow snake. After its defeat, the shadow recedes back and flees. once they exit this room, they find some guards in the cannon room. after their deaths, they use some gunpowder to smash through the wall and escape. Veto uses wind magic to safely lower them to the ground, as they are very high up. on the shore of the island, they steal a Menthiran boat and use it to reach the Menthiran mainland. On the shore, they meet another guard force. This force is led by none other than Lucian, however, it is not a Menthiran force, it is an elite group of Allurin elite mercenaries personally chosen by Lucian. Lucians mercenary band is however under the direct employment of Aldolfo, prince of Menthira. Lucian is intrigued by Cain's progress, and praises the parties achievement of being the first people to ever escape Fort Munio. Since Lucian is under Menthiran employment, he decides to take the party to Aldofo. Naturally, they resist, however Lucian did not even consider his defeat a possibility, and thus he can only laugh. with but one swing of his mighty swords, the party is felled. Lucian wakes the party up with a jolt. immediately, the party is active and find themselves in front of Aldolfo. Charna, once she recognises Aldolfo, recklessly attacks him, however Lucian defends him. Aldolfo laughs and asks why she did that. Charna then explains her tragic tale, how Aldolfo tried to kill her so that he could be king, and being adopted by another family. Aldolfo, hearing this, is immediately enraged and orders Lucian to kill her, to which Lucian refuses, stating that their is no gain by needlessly taking lives, and also pointing out that she is no longer a threat, as no one will believe her to be royalty. reluctantly, Aldolfo decides to take them to the Menthiran queen, and let her deal with Cain's group. In the Menthiran audience chamber, the queen and her imposing presence orders execution of the party for their crimes, not paying them much thought. This time Lucian does not intervene and watches quietly. Right before they leave, The Queen notices Florian's sun amulet and demands that it be bring to her at once. when the guards try to extract the amulet from the sol drive, a blinding light suddenly shines, stunning the guards. something then draws the party to a secret exit, and so they manage to escape the queens grasp. The party travel down the Exit corridors for days on end, and the parties supply of food rations empty. Veto comes to the conclusion that the corridors is in fact a winding circle, which is proven when he leaves a rock behind that the party come across again. In despair, Cain smashes his sword against the wall, and asks why it is they cannot escape, because they need to escape. His Sol drive glows a powerful red light, and, as if answering his prayers, a portion of the wall slides away, revealing another passageway, which Veto concludes is the true exit. He was wrong, as the new passageway brings the party to the entrance of the second grand sol generator! In the dungeon the puzzle is that you have too answer questions about the world and events. getting the question wrong results in a tough battle. At the end of the dungeon, the party sees a large statue standing in front of the sol generator, as the party approach, the statue reveals it's self to be an ancient defence robot and attacks the party. It is swiftly defeated, but the shadow then inhabits it's body and takes controls of the robot in a puppet master way. During the battle Cain can either cut the strings controlling the robot and attack it while it's weak before the puppet master makes new strings or climb up the strings and attack the puppet master directly. After a longer, harder battle, the shadow slinks off back into the darkness. the robot still shows signs of activity, but Veto decides to reprogram and re energise the robot using power from the grand sol generator. When it is activated, Florian still gets an over load of energy from the sol generator excess energy, despite a lot of it being used up by the newly named Crypto, who has amnesia and no emotions but joins the party anyway. Florian has another stat increase, and learns the ability charge, which doubles his attack power during his next turn. Crypto opens up a passage from behind the sol generator, leading at last to the outside world. Now that the party are in Menthira and free, they decide to go looking for the other GSG on the continent before heading over to Esparanthia again for the last one. They decide to head of towards Oasis, a town near the coast of Menthira that is the centre of trade and nationalities and is not in a desert, getting it's name from towns in deserts centred around an Oasis, that were salvation for desert travellers. they weren't far from the coast, but they had to travel through a place called the woods of Cha, a random and dangerous place in which many have got lost in without a guide. Thankfully, Crypto is able to forge a way through the woods with an inert yet vast knowledge of the world around him that was pre programmed into him, but Crypto does not understand where the origin of his knowledge came from, but what baffled him further is the fact that he does not understand why he feels compelled to help out those who he travels with. At Oasis, they quickly check into an Inn because Florian is in desperate need of rest. Florian starts having more Lucid dreams, and wakes up in the middle of the night in cold sweat, despite not remembering his dream. the party search for information on the GSG for days at Oasis, doing odd errands around town and shopping, all the while asking around and researching books in the library frantically. Crypto sits in the middle of it all, confused and in deep thought. He couldn't feel, but he knew that he had some sort of conciseness, because he envied those around him for their ability to feel emotion, which, he realised, already meant that he himself was capable of emotion, because envy is an emotion, and of retrieving his lost memories. He realised that he wanted for some reason to help these people, not because it had become part of his new programming, but because he wanted to study the way they thought. When Crypto resolved to do this, he remembered something. A faint memory. Crypto remembered an ancient archive in Allaurin that documented an ability to scan the surface world, which was used to watch enemy movements from back in the sol age. Wizards and empires have tired to decipher the scroll in the past few years since it was discovered, but none have succeeded. Crypto reckons that he and Veto could, due to both their extensive knowledge of sol machinery and the world, and the fact that they use sol drives. The party agree to this plan, but Veto wonders allowed weather Crypto had been taken out from the grand sol generator at Menthira castle, because Crypto seems to know a lot about current world affairs, to which Crypto is baffled as to why that may be. Oasis is near a port, because it needs lots of trade, so the party decide to head to Oasis port. at the port town, there is a large contingency of Menthiran troops ready to ship over to Esparanthia, to continue the invasion, which seems to have become an all out war. the party lay low and try to get a boat, but the port has closed down because the military has reserved all the ships, and is currently not letting any ships dock in Oasis port. Charna suggests that they simply steal a life boat from one of the ships. While sneaking around the ship and remaining undetected, the party manage to find themselves on a very large ship in the Menthiran fleet. Wandering around the ship and fighting off guards, they discover that the ship they are on is actually the first of a new class of ships called 'the posidens' and that this ship is the prototype of these ships, and is named ' The Hydrus' realising that they are in great danger, the party decide to head off to the bowels of the ship in fruitless search of a life boat, but instead find themselves face to face with Lucian's mercenary gang. Lucian had tracked the party from the castle, but decided to let them be even though he had already found them, and instead decided to watch them. he decided enough was enough when they boarded the Hydrus. After the mercenaries are defeated, they decide to leave and they tell them to head for the bridge. At the bridge, they find it empty. All that is seen from here is a note, quickly scribbled saying ' TAKE THE HYDRUS WITH YOU, TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT'. and with it are basic instructions for operation of the ship. With this, the party take control of the mighty Hydrus and escape from Menthira. After a long yet restful voyage, the party finally arrive at Allaurin port. at the port, the party are offered a chance to modify the ship with various upgrades and aesthetic changes for a small fee. the party from here out decide to use these services at ports they go to. at this point, the party decide to split up. Cain, Florian, and Amy decide to head off to Kasi to see how things are going, and Veto, Charna, and Crypto decide to head for the Capital, in order to find the artefact as per the original agreement. here, the player can decide to either follow Cain's story or Veto's story until they reunite. The Cain path is for players who want levels, equipment, and gameplay as opposed to the more story orientated Crypto path. At Kasi, they arrive to find that the town is having trouble, because there is a cave nearby town that has just started spewing out Dark ones at a constant rate, Cain naturally agrees to go into the cave to find the source of the problem, to which Florian and Amy agree to help him with. At the end of the short and simple dungeon, the Void walker forms it's self as the boss of the dungeon, possessing Amy and taking on a form related to her, a mermaid. After it's defeat, the void walker retreats and the dark ones stop coming out of the cave. Crypto, Veto and Charna arrive at Allurin capital, Shang, and head to the Library. The place was run by simple scholars, and it was a very sleepy place. They asked for the scroll, and they were taken to the room, not expected to get anything out of it. The scroll was written in complex writing, but Crypto was able to provide anagrams of the translated words and it is up to Veto (the player) to understand key words. They realise that the scroll is an incantation, and must be said in the original language. But while they know the words, they don't know the language. The scholars are impressed, but state that that is the conclusion most Wizards came to after years of studying the scroll. Suddenly, the void walker takes possession of Veto, an takes on a form related to him. It is a pure black, empty orb floating in the air. It uses the incantations in the other language to attack the party members. After a long battle and it's defeat, the void walker slinks away. Veto however had been blessed with memories of the dead language, and spent a long time in the room alone reciting the incantation with difficulty. When he had finished, they came in to see a floating screen in the air, a map of the world with information all over it. It moved in real time. They could see the Menthiran posiden fleet heading towards Esparanthia. Veto searched for GSGs, and saw one in Menthira in the middle of the desert, and one at the top of the sacred tree in Esparanthia. The scholars let them have the scroll, as was the deal with the king of Allurin that stated that he who deciphered it may have it. The party met up back Allurin port, and board the Hydrus to return to Menthira and find the GSG in the desert. Back at Oasis, they get rested and then head out. The desert is expansive with lots of monsters but they use the map to find the entrance to the GSG. The dungeon requires use of the map to sneak past the golem guards. The boss of the dungeon is a huge sand worm, so huge that the GSG resides in it's stomach and the heart of the dungeon is it's nest. The party have to fight it while also trying to climb up it's long body to the mouth, before going in and fighting the heart to reach the stomach. When they have killed it from the inside, they activate the GSG. Florian learns the ability blessing, which fully heals the party and removes all status effects except unconsciousness. Outside they go back to Oasis and find out that Esparanthia is under complete Menthiran control. The party head back to the Hydrus and travel to Rusi. At the port town, they have to fight the guards and actually succeed in freeing the town. While they are paraised, they have to leave it behind. The party decide that combating the Menthirans should come before activating the final GSG. They head to grand Bastion, and use a secret entrance connected to the nearby GSG they activate first to get inside. They prepare in the city, which isn't really watched so much as its more a lockdown now, and then head to the castle and fight their way in. Finally, they reach the throne room and come face to face with Aldolfo, holding the Esparanthian king hostage. They discover that it was Adolfo all along leading the Menthirans, because soon after Cain's party escaped the queen was overturned and imprisoned. Aldolfo tells the party that he wanted to be king and take over the world with Menthira's superior military, as the queen was too 'gutless' to try. Enraged, the party engage Aldoflo, who is strong because he wields a sol drive. Charna ultimately lands the final blow, as he dies, he realises what an idiot he was and apologises. Upon his defeat, the troops run away and Veto sees on the map that they are retreated from Esparanthia, and presumably the queen will be reinstated as the head of Menthira. In thanks, the king offers them lots of rewards including riches, nobel-hood and a banquet in their honer however they decline and ask only for access to the sacred tree, to which Esparanthia agrees to. The part head to the great tree and climb up it slowly from in the hollow inside, which is the dungeon. At the top, they meet Lucian next to the GSG. Lucian attempts to reason with the party, warning them not to activate the GSG as it will ultimately bring only chaos. The party engage him, and during the battle he knocks Cain off the tree. The battle ends with a 1 on 1 between Cain and Lucian, Cain immediately begins running up the tree, using his sword as an anchor but mainly using his sol drive to defy gravity, and Lucien runs down the tree until they meet in a clash in the middle, causing the tree to snap. Finally, after a long battle, Cain emerges victorious in the final clash. Lucian retreats, saying he tried, but he warned them of the consequences. They activate the final GSG and Florian's stats increase and he learns light wave, which deals a huge amount of Light damage on all enemies. The queen had launched an assault on Allurin, as the entrance to the underworld rested there, and she had decided to enact her plans. Esparanthia also move to defend Allurin, and the country becomes a battle ground for two other countries. They board the Hydrus and head for the queen's flagship, as she had come in person because she intended to talk to Anubis in person, and make their way through the massive war ship. At the head, they meet the queen and discover her plans to take over the world with the power of the dark ones and Anubis, and so the party engage her. She is formidable because she has a sol drive, and also several sol drive drones around her protecting her. They eventually kill her and make their way out of the flag ship, The Menthirans had managed to open the gateway to the underworld, however they were now in shambles. The party head to the underworld to fight Anubis. After the long twisting paths and caverns of the underworld, they eventually stumble upon the old city, which humans had lived in when underground, which was now inhabited by dark ones. Eventually, they reach the castle and fight Anubis, who believes that the world is better off in darkness, the power and tranquility it provides is the perfect blanket for mankind, and he wishes to make everyone his apostle because he wants everyone to experience how wonderful and peaceful darkness is, and for society to be united under it. He raises a giant Violin, and begins playing it. This is the queue for the apostles of darkness to join in and bring out their orchestra. He also has a massive sword he fights with, but the music deals continuous damage each second. As you battle him, you can kill the orchestra which enrages Anubis but in the end slows down the rate of HP depletion. After a long fought battle, they decide to use the gathered energy of the GSG and the sun and strike down Anubis together with their light, as Anubis dies he states that while light always wins, that doesn't mean to say light is always in the right and perfect. He disintegrates and the dark ones revert to humans, turns out that his power had sped up the evolution, and all that is left of him is the Luna amulet. It reacts with Florian's Sol amulet and they re conjoin. The power is so immense, that Florian faints after the amulets combine and becomes the Nova amulet. They take Florian to a doctor. The doctor in Kasi says that Florian has had too much energy from the sun, and that he must rest because now it cannot be extracted. The party decide to go and see the king of Esparanthia while they are waiting for Florian to recover. While they are in Esparanthia, the void walker comes and inhabits Florian, and takes him to Seraph. Cain is given a ransom note from Seraph, telling him to come and beat Seraph in Kasi if he wants to save Florian. Cain immediately agrees and they head back to Kasi. Seraph is waiting for Cain at the town gates, and challenges Cain to single combat. Cain agrees and they begin. As they fight, their fight takes them all around the village, destroying it in the process. When they reach the flower field, Cain breaks of Seraph's armour, revealing that it was Florian all along! Cain refuses to fight, and stands there without moving to defend himself. The other party members come and defend Cain, however Florian manages to brush them aside because he only wants to fight Cain. Cain eventually works up the courage to fight back. He fights Florian in the field, and the flowers are inevitably reduced to ash. FInally, after a volley of super attacks, Cain rushes forward and cuts Florian in half. Florian regains his sense of self just as he is stabbed, and tells Cain not to mourn him as Florian's golden blood is spilled all over the barren field. His blood immediately makes the flowers bloom more thickly and wonderfully than before. Florian also opens a path to the sun, telling them that is where the person behind it all sleeps. Florian's sword, which has the nova amulet and his sol drive inside, remains stuck in the ground. They head to the sun. They find themselves in a room in the comet now imbedded in the sun, and find out that the room connects to all the GSG and the flower field, which is where Florian died and still has a lot of energy. An apostle of light descends and tells them the bare essentials they need to know about Reku. Enraged, the party head up the comet. However, Cain stays behind, to depressed to do anything anymore. At this point, the player can head down to the planet and complete side quests and fight optional bosses at the GSGs. There are now apostles of light following Reku on the surface instead of Apostles of darkness. An optional dungeon also arises in the underworld, where the party can defeat the last remnants of the void walker and end it once and for all. As there going up, Veto concludes that those who use a sol drive cannot be harmed by the sun, which explains why they haven't burnt to a crisp. There are many apostles of light impeding their progress. After a long journey up to the top of the comet inside the sun, they come to the palace. At the palace doors, they meet Lucian who tries to stop them from going in and wasting their lives. Lucian tells them about his past, how he led the human race to the surface, and how when he fought Anubis and lost he found out about Reku. The party realise that he was right all along. Regardless, they head inside. Reku meets them, he is inside a chamber absorbing the sun's energy. He explains that he is traveling the universe regaining his power and searching for his other half, the power contained in the Nova amulet. The party, annoyed at the lack of compassion for life, attack Reku. It seems as if the battle is doing well, and they break the capsule. However, thats when Reku gets board, mocks their mortality and weakness, and kills them. Cain walks in, and sees the bodies of his friends. He is holding Florian's sword, the Nova amulet. Cain fights Reku, again in vain, and Reku mocks him like he did the others. Then, Cain goes over the edge. His loss of all his friends and all that is dear to him makes him so angry that his emotions push his sol drive over the edge, breaking it, and channelling his power through the Nova amulet, Fights Reku in blind fury. The Nova amulet and the sol drive, which, while Cain is still angry will work, means that his power is equal to Reku's, likely more. He fights Reku and blasts him out of the sun. After launching a finishing attack in space, Cain smashes Reku down into the core of the sun, then he extends his swords and slices the sun in half, creating a supernova. Reku and a half of the sun is thrown into a black hole, however, an unknown force closes the supernova, which prevents it from killing cain and the solar system. Cain, skin charred black, begins drifting. He his sol drive runs out of power, leaving him deprived of oxygen, however he finds the corpse of Crypto and uses the robot's life support to keep him alive. Cain slowly drifts back to his planet, as the credits role, setting the events for shadow sun 3 (2 being a prequel) in which Cain has to evacuate the planet. END.
Changes: Only Florian dies at the end. More examples of teamwork as opposed to lone wolf Cain, e.g, final battle VS Lucian and the battle against Reku etc. (Colonel sarcasm actually pointed this one out to me) Fleshing out for more of the characters (Amy, Veto) and possibly some renames.
Anything else? Not entirely sure. I'll add character Bios later, because they explain some plot holes you may still be scratching your head over. Feedback= awesome.

Game mechanics. This might get confusing.
BATTLE SYSTEM: The game uses a semi turned based, semi realtime battle system. Based on speed, a character or enemy will select an action, then carry it out in real time. They will be able to move about freely during their turn until the action is carried out. There are a few options: ATTACK, pulls out a regular attack, SPELL, uses a spell which may require charge time, ITEM uses an equipped item or an item on the field if useable, DEFEND: Character defends, halving damage from the front. EMOTIONS, lists emotions which affects stats and sol drives, and allows you to switch them in battle, SOL DRIVES, special attacks which require the correct emotion and a solar metre that corresponds with that emotion to be useable, for the anger emotion, that may be a string of attacks, for wisdom, that may be magic spells, for caring, that may be lots of healing. In special situations, BREAK may be used to send the character into a free run mode, where they have to dodge enemy attacks and reach the destination,. This might be running to the top of a dragons neck, running across an enemy infested field, or running up the tree in the final Lucien battle etc. In this, there is a jump, defend, dash, and slash command at the players disposal. Any character can use this however Cain is best at it, and only in special situations. Finally, OVERDRIVE is the ultimate attack of an emotion for each character, to use the overdrive the character must have 1 of their 6 ultimate emotions of a class active, and finally a large combo chain involving that emotion and a sol drive using that emotion tree being used prior to the overdrive. The exact the conditions will not be known until after it is first used, and the option wont appear on the menu until it can be used. After selecting, you can move around freely then perform your turn when your ready to attack. Spells will have greater accuracy when used up close, however they may get interrupted next turn, so they may want to keep their distance. Further more, an ally spell can do damage to an ally so a melee character will have to make sure not to get hit by the spell, furthermore melee characters do more damage from behind, and also a defending enemy will not be able to defend if being attacked from behind. This all applies to the enemy and they follow your rules too. Up to four players can control characters at a time, Co-Op fashion.
SKILLS AND EMOTION TREES: This basic battle system is perfect for beginners, however the game gets complicated when skills become involved. There are six emotion trees, and they each correspond to an emotion type, and each emotion type focuses on a stat, and a selection in battle, excluding EMOTIONS, OVERDRIVES and SOL DRIVES, SPELL being divided into two categories. Each tree can be levelled up through use in battle, using SP. When enough SP for that tree has been accumulated, it can level up. There will often be branching level up paths to choose from. The level up bonus will grant access to skills, extra stat bonus, and new emotion levels. Emotion levels provide more skills, require the most SP to level up, and an overall increase in stats. They may also grant new SOL DRIVES and spells. Skills are the main reward for levelling up emotions, and change the battle system drastically. There are 3 stages of emotion levels per tree, and emotions can also mean states of mind. There are skills to let you move around during the opponents turn, inflict time and movement restrictions on the opponent, and counter attack an enemies attack, along with skills that negate friendly fire, let you change emotions before attacking, lessening the time it takes to cast a spell, and lessening combo chains requirements for faster use of drives and overdrives, being able to move all characters on a turn before making one action, and many more. The skills will also become active to enemies, making the game very much more a realtime affair as the game progresses. Some skills will allow counter attacks. If defending, a counter attack can be pulled off, where an emery hits you while your guarding, and if you press a button at the right time, you can reverse it round to your turn and attack the enemy instead. This effectively means that a successful counter attack can result in two turns. However, enemies can also do this, and counter attacks can be countered, effectively resulting in some cases where there is a power struggle of counter attacks to decide who gets the extra turn- if a counter is attempted and failed, you take damage as if you weren't guarding, and the attacker gains another go.
STATS: Hit Points (HP) Magic Points (MP) (Maximum) combo chain (CC) Strength Magic Defence Magic defence Speed
