General knoxx. Graytest boss ever. Way better than the destoyer. -Borderlands
Hmm. Mepheus? Bearer of the blak wings from nostalgia, he wasnt hard but he was a cool end game twist. Tho the games plot disnt reveal the guy who they wanted you to think was the actual villian until the end either it was still a good twist. -Nostalgia
Overlord. Who would have thought the animated remains of a corrupted force of something could be so difficult? I did. I died so many times!. But the sleipnier was worth it!- Also nostalgia
Red- secret last "boss" from pokemon g/s/c best pokemon games ever. Period.
Dhaos- tales of (the first one. Idr which planet it was called... Phantasia maybe? Anywho) I felt horrible after i killed him. Like utterly wasted quest, tho he coukd have used his brain and just talked to people instead of trying to kill everyone.

Considering how bosses in Fallout 3 and New Vegas work (not very well), Legate Lanius, which is the final boss for at least two if not 3 of the different paths in New Vegas, is suprisingly well done. Not only is he by far the second strongest enemy in the game (the first being the Legendary Deathclaw), he also wields a huge sword. Also before the battle you engage in a lengthy conversation with him that if your speach is high enough, you can convince him to surrender or at least convince him to fight you one-on-one. Also behind his mask he looks like Chuck Norris.
Also from Kid Icarus: Uprising there is the final battle, also the boss battles leading up to that. It's nothing short of epic and let's leave it at that.

Spoilers for the last story. (Which I dont think has been released in america) Jirall. Literally just finished it, then I looked up the battle and the music. Essentially, Jirall is one of the biggest douches in gaming history, by acting like a spoilt nobel brat and constantly trying to send protagonist Zael to prison along with for most of the game being a useless coward (until he gets granted a wicked sword by the main villan... which starts destroying his mind) forces the protagonists to play dirty tricks on him to keep him from messing with them. This... is his revenge. (The fights not nearly as hard as the fight in the video makes it out to be.) Aaaand the musics already favorited. Such good music. I beat him without dieing once.

I dare not look at any of those videos. Games I can't get my mitts on >_> darn it (well, I can find SotC, but it's been at ~$18 for a while). I'm thinking of pre-ordering TLS, but I'm not sure yet. I was a little disappointed in XC, so I'm hesitant. *SKYWARD SWORD SPOILERS AHEAD* ANYWAY. Most EPIC boss ever was Koloktos from Skyward Sword. He wasn't difficult, but his presentation and style blew me away. At first, he was a pretty boring boss lol. Metal guy stuck in the ground, one, two, three okay you're....WHAT THE HECK!? *Rips himself out of the ground, pulls out 6 swords, cue epic music*. His reach was doubled (which messed with me cause I was used to his previous range), had some crazy attacks, and summoned zombies! The BEST part of the fight though, is when he dropped his swords. Pick one up, and rip him to pieces with his own weapon definitely my favorite fight in any video game so far. *end spoilers*

The Legend of Zelda Magoras Mask. Rampaging Bull (i forgot its name, hope you guys know who i mean) anyway the fight isnt challenging, it was pure fun, a bolder tring to bring down a bull whilst in the last 10mins and almost dead. im tempted to say its most fun boss that you have to fight in the zelda games (that iv played).

ZODIAC Ophiuchus vs ZODIAC Libra vs KAMUI Unit #07 & Unit #08
In other words, Energy Winged All-Purpose Photon Reflector Shield-Equipped Fighter Pheonix versus I CAN FILL THE ENTIRE SCREEN WITH BULLETS AND LASERS versus Previous Player Character's cameo as two super-powered advanced models.
In Space.
Oh yeah, and the previous stage - the fight against ZODIAC Virgo after it simply rams its way through your back up - the stage 1 boss, Virgo. Especially when the Wave Motion Gun engulfs the screen.

Mmm... I'm surprised at how much my demeanor has changed in nearly three years.
As for the thread, I'm reminded of how few boss fights from games I've played recently have been as memorable as ones I've mentioned earlier in the thread. I've played good games recently, and I guess you could count the majority of fights in Monster Hunter 4U, but few boss fights have been that great to me when I think of them in isolation.
Shadow of the Colossus has great fights. I suppose the final boss of that game carries the most emotional weight and the least amount of cheapness though.
Souls games have some of the best bosses ever. Ornstein and Smough are fantastic mid-game challenges, and Gwyn is an excellent fight between true equals to end the game with. Sif is also a heartbreaking fight, especially if you complete the Artorias of the Abyss scenario first. Artorias himself was fun to fight as well, and his armor was great. The Four Kings are a real pain though.
Demon's Souls also had that one weird boss-fight which had you forcibly fight against another player online, except nowadays you're likely to get a weaker NPC instead. Bosses like the Tower Knight are terrifying though, one of the most terrifying moments I've ever felt when playing a game is encountering that boss for the first time and watching all the skeleton archers line up on the battlements.
I'll need to pick up that rerelease of Dark Souls 2 when it comes out... I need a PS4 in general actually.

Thatd be goht. And yea, he is the most fun, unless you count the last boss with fd... Or any boss that isnt goht as fd really... Koloktos from skyward sword was pretty cool, the range wasnt a problem for me, because i "mastered" the zelda dodge with ww, (phantom ganon anyone?) by far the coolest boss in the game is ghirahim (in his cool form, not the one where he looks like a metrosexual hipster...) Probably my favorite boss from any zelda game tho is dark dragon onox, he is just that easy. For a last boss he was a joke (cough demise cough)

Gotta agree with Carigun, Robot Laser Goht is awesome. Just wait till Gyorg(George), he's amazing. The Manta Storm from SMS ranks pretty high up on my list. My favorite boss EVER is probably RtDL Galacta Knight though.First time he showed up I pretty much flipped out. He comes at a time when you're pretty badly drained from 11(?) boss fights ranging from fine to WHY. Then, you see a silouette. You enter, and fight. HOLY CRAP ITS GALACTA KNIGHT. Some great, epic music's playing as you fight...then you get him to half health...KSSU fans flipped out. That guitar...THE THEME. THERE IT IS! Light beams raining from the sky and all around, a true test of your guarding and dodging ability. He comes down, and you fight face to face, and it's just so epic. I love it every time, but the blood-pumping impact it left the first time is unlike anything.

You basically just started the game, after Dah'ren Mohran (which is kind of epic except it's much too systematic and unthreatening). Shagaru Magala was supposed to be a big deal I guess, but it was kind of a weak revamp of a lesser boss. The other 'finale' monsters in the series were sooo much better. Fighting Ceadeus underwater, and Dire Miralis... Fighting the elementally unstable Alatreon, inside a volcano, with organ/heavy guitar music. Fighting Amatsumagatsuchi (yes) on top of a mountain, the weather and wind shifting to around extremes to its desire. However MH4u has its share... Have you seen Kushala Daoroa? Dalamadur or Gogmazios? There's a lot of crazy battles. Even later on, the weak monsters have alternate types, G-rank, and even Apex versions that are much more potent. The monsters you've been hunting are more like the 'levels' of a game rather than bosses.Shadow of the Colossus has great fights. I suppose the final boss of that game carries the most emotional weight and the least amount of cheapness though. That was a great game... But I always thought that last boss was the most boring. Emotional weight, that was there though. My most memorable fights in that game were the bird, and the flying sand dragon.I've mentioned this before, but it's appropriate to post again in this thread. Never gets old. As much as RULES OF NATURE is a funny-meme now, this scene is just stupidly awesome (3:12, just in case). And the finishing part at 5:40. The whole battle is super impressive though, and this is the tutorial. The rest of the bosses are all complete with this sort of quality, and each having their own vocal music, which adapts dynamically to the fight. Metal Gear Rising is a masterpiece. And for something new, I recently completed Soul Sacrifice Delta. To be honest, I'm still at a loss for words... I got the game because it's a 'Monster Hunter' genre game, but... The story. It's so good. I was totally hooked in the first chapter and nearly in tears (foreals) subsequently. It's been so long since a game made me feel so heart-torn, much less so early into the game. The rest of the game pulled at my heartstrings every time they mentioned her name... There's so much I want to say, but I don't want to spoil anything. The interesting thing is that Soul Sacrifice is essentially a light novel. It's presented as if you're the reader reliving memories of a special journal, which ultimately plays out with reading someone else's 1st person story as if the Vita were actually a book. It's a little bit audio-book, too, since it's fully voiced over (and well done at that). Point in case, there were actually a handful of very memorable and emotional battles. The whole game revolves around setting up a final encounter to change the future, and decisions on saving or sacrificng people near-death, living with memories (and intertwining memories of those sacrificed), love, hope, fate, all that stuff... But it's a more realistic approach to all those themes. Sorry, I know most of what I've been saying has been meaningless, but I don't know how to express this other masterpiece without spoiling anything because it's very narrative driven, full of so many twists. So many times did I feel extreme warmth in my heart, or fell close to tears, throughout the entire thing. But... There was a certain battle that... Yeah, can't say, but this song played during that glorious moment of a boss: Take what you can from that, I guess... Come to think of it, the game was so despondent and dreary yet hopeful, that when this moment occurs in the game with this song, it's such a tremendous high point... And the funny thing is, during the battle, you know it's only a short-lived experience. But one that means a lifetime... Curses, Vita, why must you be so obscure? Not enough people here can experience this... Except Carigun? Then again the story is like an audio-light-novel with hunts thrown in between so a let's play or something would be the same experience. Right now, I'm still sad there's no more of the story to be had... ... Anywho.

Just wait till Gyorg(George), he's amazing. Why would you outright lie to the boy steven? Dear God man, why? PS use chateau romani for(everything in that game) twinmold. Easiest fight ever. Also in a bout of satire im adding freezeman exe from mmbn2 to this list. He automatically takes 4x damage from elec attacks (which are the most common type of battle chip in the game, more or less.) and he doesnt move. Plus elec attacks stun, so literally even at his v3 (the highest form he has.) he is killable without much trouble. (I suggest grinding for an elec style, then putting as many guardian chips as you can find in your folder. He takes 800 damage for each one.... Just dont shoot it your self...)

My personal favorite boss in Metal Gear Rising Revengece is either Jestream Sam or the last boss. Jetstream Sam is a good example of a fight that is very much like fighting another player with similar moves that you have in a 1 on 1 sword fight. As for the last boss. I will not spoil it but the fight itself very much seems like something from Fist of the North Star.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 also has some pretty great bosses. My personal favorites include the Naruto vs. Sasuke battle, the Kakashi vs. Zabuza battle, and the battle where the Five Kages fight Madara. They all have pretty epic scope.
