I know we have a topic on Hardest Boss Ever but what we don't have one on the Best Boss Ever. What was a boss that was so epic or unique that you have fond memories of fighting it. It could be an easy boss or a hard boss. It could be a final boss, extra boss, or just a normal boss. Note that this topic will contain spoilers, possibly for some games you might want to be careful when looking/posting on this topic.
I'll start first with the final boss in Kirby's Return to Dreamland. It is so epic. They way the boss fights and all the different moves it can do. Not only that but you finish it with one of the most awesome moves in the game....Only for it to appear in it's more awesome second phase which looks like a combination of Marx and 0. Watch it here, but it does contain massive spoilers. Could be considered one of the greatest bosses in Kirby, I think it at least ranks up there with Marx and 0^2.

*Obligatory Shadow of the Colossus fangasm* Most notably Colosssi #3, 13, 15, and 16. Too much epic to describe here in words. Just...just Youtube.

ummm, well, a lot of games I've played recently have good boss fights with good music in and place in the story but dont play to awesome very well.
I'd love to put Zanza (Xenoblade) or Asche (Tales of the abyss) but THEY'RE TOO EASY! Nyx was too long and hard. I've already mentioned the Eramon battle from infinite space, damn.
Ok not the best video because it doesn't cut straight to the last battle, and the guy playing is super skilled at this and anhilhiates the boss in a few seconds flat, WHICH BY THE WAY FOR US MORTALS, VANITAS IS FREKIN DIFFICULT! But basically Vanitas is the dark side of Ventus, and they are both being manipulated into making the X- Blade, being the mightiest of key blades, by the main villan, as only they can do it. Vanitas doesnt care and wants to make it. Ventus doesnt. Ventus fights Vanitas, his darkside, in his own heart, destorys Vanitas and the incomplete X-Blade, however in the process he destroys his own heart. Great situation. Awesome music. Your fighting a douche, who BTW looks like main protagonist Sora Lol, so you REALLY want to kill him. Normally the fight is insanely hard and the finsiher, where Ventus has already destroyed his heart, is epic, and it plays well, Vanitas isnt exactly a cheep shot if you know what I mean. Overall a great fight as it has all the components I love.

- 02 came out of nowhere the first time I fought him, so that was pure epicness combined with the "HOLY S*** WHAT DID I JUST STUMBLE INTO?!" factor.
- Any battle with Meta Knight ever. Except maybe in Kirby's Avalanche. Also, Galacta Knight from KSSU.
- While I'm listing Kirby bosses, Waddle Dee in The Arena.
- Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- Wart in SMB2 thanks to the music and the general feeling of "I have to beat this or spend the next three hours trying to get back to this point." (I kind of sucked when I fought him the first time)
- Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts II... And the first one (
even though I never beat him in the first one)... Actually, all the Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts that you fight
- Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII, as well as Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon, really
- Ultima(te?) Weapon from Final Fantasy VIII, and Omega Weapon if it weren't for the fact that the one time I tried fighting him he did, like, 12,000 damage to everyone
- Probably every optional boss in Final Fantasy X, if it weren't for the fact that I completely ruined the fun of that game with a Codebreaker
- The Ice Titan in Kingdom Hearts, partly because I think I was extremely underleveled
- The Dustflier in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (and probably several other bosses from that game that I don't actually remember)
- Abyssion (I think I spelled that right) and the Sword Dancer from Tales of Symphonia. Also, Richter from the second game (every time he shows up), as well as (SPOILER TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Lloyd and Marta, Alice and Decus, and the Ratatosk-persona Emil you fight at the end. Also, at least 6 bosses I forgot about from each game, I bet.
You think that's a long list? I probably forgot about a list twice that size! Which reminds me, every boss from Donkey Kong Country 2 and most (if not all) of them from 3, especially K. Rool in the Lost World in 2 and KAOS from 3.

O^2 was pretty random, I mean, it's a flying cyclops turnip with a bandaid that releases green gas But using Ribbon power was fun ;D I have to say Zant was a fun boss in Twilight Princess. Not the most challenging but smashing his toes and jumping all over him was fun ;D

Okay, it's not really the first time this is a boss fight, and it doesn't even originate from a game, but this games' rendition of the scene is pretty amazing. It's one of the most heroic moments I've ever seen, ever. Probably has more effect if you know what's going in (IE; Freiza destroying Namek, Goku's friends, and beating everyone around sadistically), but dang.
"You can destroy a whole planet... But it seems you can't even destroy a single man."
If else, I'll just have to agree with Shadow of The Colossus bosses (amazing sense of scale and heroicness) and 02. 02 just really gets you to think, after you've played such a bright game...
Twilight Princess Ganondorf is also up there, with the whole horseback section, and then the final duel. I love when games make good sword duels, like Wind Waker also, and Kirby vs Meta Knight.

Yay tales of symphonia awesomeness and kingdom hearts good taste death eye! Gigas battles from skies of arcadia. They were so AWESOME! My favorite would have to be the final gigas, which is a phase of the final boss, where your in your overpowered ship fighting a gigantic silver shapeshifting blob called Zelos, the gigas, which encompass the power of the world in essence and once destroyed it by calling moonstones from the 6 moons to fall and raze the planet. Ouch. You have to fight that in your own ship, (ship to ship battles are in skies of arcadia and they are REALLY cool) which, even though its amazingly powerful, looks small and weak by comparison. And he does use powers like calling down moonstones that looks like its tearing the ship apart! Then I full heal next turn and blow it to pieces...

From Sonic Generations I really like the Rival Battle against Shadow. It is a running battle where both you and Shadow both have rings and the object of the battle is to collect two of these power orbs that are constantly moving. If Shadow gets two orbs first then he will speed ahead and fire Chaos Spears at Sonic which you have to sidestep, also All Hail Shadow plays in the background while he does this, but if Sonic gets two orbs then he will get a speed boost and launch meteors at Shadow by dashing into them, slowing shadow down and causing him to lose rings, and finnaly finish it off by dashing into Shadow causing him to rapidly lose rings, and if he runs out he loses, also Live & Learn plays during this part. It's all really epic and shows how equally matched they can be sometimes.

^SO. MUCH. SA2B. NOSTALGIAAAAAA!
Now I'm torn, there's Kirby and Sonic, and i've only got enough for one. That is epic, almost exactly like Shadow v. Sonic last time in SA2B, except the power orbs.

^If your just going to play it by yourself, then I recommend Sonic Generations. Kirby is good but Generations has so much more things that will delight you if your a fan of the other games. Although if you plan to play it with friends then I recommend Kirby since it's just so fun and satisfying going through the game with others. But in the end it's you opinion.
Malus! Final boss from Shadow of the Colossus. Seriously, everyone who first fought it must have **** bricks. The atmosphere is some of the best in the PS2 era as well. It's dark and gloomy, your horse is possibly dead and you come across a giant tower, at first you might think that the colossus is on top of the tower. Then you realize that the tower is moving and the colossus IS THE TOWER! I'll post a video of it later.
UPDATE: Found a video and fixed mistakes in my post.

Final boss of shin megami tensei nocturne, Kagutsuchi.
General epicness, your fighting an aspect of god, testing you to see if your worthy of inciting creation. Of course, he changes often depending on the endings. In the normal 3 reason endings, he reads your heart, realises what world you want, then tests you to see if your ideal is worthy. However, in the other two endings, he gets pissed. I got the neutral ending, returning the world to normal. Our world is a world of freedom, humans do as they will. But God was angry that we constantly wasted our freedom through conflict and suffering, so he allowed the world to be destroyed. Undoing the conception and using his powers to recreate a world he deemed unworthy really got him pissed, going from: 'Very well, I shall test your might to see if your worthy.' in the normal endings to: 'My light, seething with anger, shall erase you from existence!' The best bit is the multipul endings- the outcome of this fight will result in what YOU as a person will want, not what the game wants you to want, if you get what I mean. I felt so epic defying god. The actual fight its self wasn't too bad, but it was coupled with awesome atmosphere, awesome music, it was lengthy if nothing else, and despite the fact it looks like a giant disco ball, it radiated a godly presence. Pure epic.

Despite the fact that it's not the best boss ever, I feel the need to mention Wracktail from Super Paper Mario. Wracktail, not Fracktail. Fracktail was pretty cool. You fight him toward the start of the game; he is, after all, the first boss (that I remember). Then you go through the entire rest of the game, then find yourself in the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials. You finally make it to the end of there, expecting a boss of some sort, but not knowing what (assuming you, like me, didn't use a walkthrough). Then suddenly, hey! It's that thing (only differently-colored and presumably a lot more powerful but I don't remember)! Awesome! (Well, I thought it was, anyway.)

I dunno, I just really like it. Awesome music, nostalgic of the little kid who had Sonic CD.

^ really? I found the battle slow paced and I dont much like original sonic. I think the shadow battle is better. Although, time eater or egg dragoon were probably my favorites from sonic generations. Perfect chaos was hilarious, you didn't even need super sonic to beat him this time around.

Honestly, even though I was really looked forward to it, I didn't like the Egg Dragoon fight mostly because of the length of the fight and I usually died from unfare causes. Although I still liked the fight though. The Time Eater was average mostly because of "It's a homing attack!"

I just remembered how awesome the final bosses of Spyro the Dragon and the first two sequels are. The first one had what basically amounted to a very long and epic chase through a whole bunch of industrialized, uh, area, culminating in a room filled with lava where the platforms are all gradually retracting into the walls at such a speed that by the time you finally catch up to him ("him" being Gnasty Gnorc, the main antagonist, for those of you who haven't played the game) you have about 5 inches of platform to stand on. The second one had you facing off against Ripto (again, the main antagonist) in an environment that reminds me of a colosseum with a bit of a unique twist involving gathering colored orbs to get temporary powers to attack him with. Then he pulls a cybernetic version of the previous boss out of nowhere and rides him for the second part of the fight. Then he destroys the entire battlefield, making the third part an aerial battle where he rides a pterodactyl for some reason. The third one? I only vaguely recall the final battle of that, but I do remember the FINAL final battle... ...Okay, I don't actually remember that one any better. I should play that game again at some point. Anyway, what I remember of it can be explained in two words: UFO fight. It's as epic as it sounds.
It's a shame the series went downhill after the third one.
