So, I've had it since day one. Forgot to say something because I honestly forgot about this place for a while, but I literally have no friends that have it, so I figured I'd come and see who wants to play sometime. I'm talking about the wii U version btw. Let's do it.

There are no gamecube adapters. ANYWHERE. IN. MISSOURI.
...Remind me why I didn't preorder this again? The game's great, but I hate having to use the pro controller (though it's miles better than the 2DS)

Gonna be a while until I get the Wii U version... Damn it coming out the same week as Pokemon ORAS. Oh well, I kind of want to try to beat all the challenges in the 3DS version anyway.

Hopefully over Thanksgiving I'll have some decent Wi-fi so maybe I can finally throw down some smashing with you guys... if you're not too busy playing the Wii U version, that is I know I still will be playing the 3DS version. Just let us know in that PM conversation when your available, oh and if your going to list a time your available remember to post the time zone. I noticed that several of us are in different time zones, such as I am in the PST (-8:00) time zone.

Yeah, the lack of Gamecube adapters is kinda annoying, but I still much prefer the pro controller to the 2DS. WARNING; If not careful the pro controller's C stick layout will occasionally kill you. I've had it happen exactly twice since I got the game so if you're good at...not having your fingers slip, you should be fine most of the time, but twice I've jumped but accidentally flipped down on the c stick and send plummeting to my death as Bowser. ...I really want a gamecube adapter. Also my mains list is looking more like this now: Bowser/Yoshi (can't decide who I prefer) - funny because I said I didn't like Smash 4 Bowser, but now that his hype is dying down I found myself coming back to him. Also C stick helps because pivot smashes are OP. DDD/Donkey Kong (gotta love the heavies) Shulk Killager/Lucina (I only put these two together to point out that I can't function with either of these characters without a C stick) Jigglypuff Sonic Robin Robin...

What happened to Robin to make you want to use Sonic over him?

What happened to Robin to make you want to use Sonic over him? Robin is as slow as Ganondorf. I'm not even using that as an analogy, Robin has the slowest running speed in the game, tied with Ganondorf. I like Robin, but I actually played sonic a few times recently and he's very good at punishing attacks with his very quick moves and speed. In addition, Robin is just a very stiff and clunky character. Kinda like how you disliked shulk. EDIT: Oh, sorry, he/she has a SLOWER running speed than Ganondorf, tied with Jigglypuff for dead last. Walking speed is 39th/48. This isn't including miis because their speed is variable. EDIT2: I'd also like to take this moment to point out that Bowser is now the 14th faster character in smash 4 out of 48. For...well, Bowser, that's a little crazy. His walk speed is still garbage though (44th/48)

Still mostly the same for me, but I use Shulk less often now. 2mainstream He's the most mained character as far as Smush forums (GameFAQs/Smushboards) show, but I really enjoy Pi/Pittoo the most now anyway. Instead I've taken to using Marth a lot now, or Lissina. Swordplay is fun, and shieldbreaker is sooo underrated.
Also play Palutena and Robin occasionally... Just forget running though, Robin's roll is really good, you can use it to travel way faster, or just jump as his air speed is faster than his run and not bad at all.
I think Pit's easily my best now though, I've learned so much new stuff with him.

That aside, I didn't even know Shulk was mainstream. Sure, he's stronger, but I liked Shulk before the whole buff thing anyway (though the whole mainstream thing is probably why I didn't like Bowser at first). Diddy Kong's looking to be the best character anyway. (Also yeah shield breaker is horribly underused. an uncharged one will almost kill a full shield and reduce shield regen and it's fairly strong uncharged AND it comes out pretty fast.) EDIT: Pit's your best character. I'll just add that.

Not really promoting roll spamming. If you do it all the time you'll get punished easily (actually, not so easily). But if you launch someone and want to chase them, there's no reason not to just use the rolls, or to just do a quick inch towards them in neutral.
Shieldbreaker is also pretty strong so it can be a long range KO move at late percents, but yeah, I took out someone's full shield with only a half charged one. It also doesn't have that much recovery or startup so it's hard to punish if you use it for spacing. Since shielding aerials is so good, you can catch people off guard with a falling shieldbreaker, too.
But honestly, rolls are just stupidly good in this iteration. There's a reason roll spamming works, to an extent. You can punish bad habits with them but you basically have to predict rolls because almost the entire frames are invincibility, and they happen so fast and cover a lot of distance with most characters.

Not gamebreaking, but they're really good. They're faster than ever and only have tiny punishable frames. It's just kind of annoying... It's pretty depressing when you fight a camping Lucario though, his roll is godlike. Well, not like godlike, but it's good enough you can't really react to it most of the time.

Meh, I get what you're saying though. But yeah, I just fought this guy who used Shulk and Peach most of the time on FG. He was pretty good. Lots of close matches, but I only lost a couple times. Only two matches were bad, the match he played as Pac-Man, and the first match I switched from using my own Shulk to Bowser. The change threw him off guard and I easily 2-stocked him. Most games were down to the wire. Just about lagless too.

Shulk has a guaranteed combo on most of the cast. Speed D-throw to FAir (or on heavies you can go speed D-throw to Nair to D tilt to grab to Ftilt for about 40%. It's a pretty cool combo when it works.)

Are you sure it's a guaranteed combo? As someone with 22 hours of playtime with Shulk, I know his only real combo was N-air > F-tilt/U-tilt/Grab. I haven't really done much after the patch though... But I know all of his changes were just damage-related and F-air getting less landing lag.
But that said, Shulk is the follow-up king of this game. With Jump or Speed he has amazing strings of attacks that aren't quite combos but definitely need to be dodged ASAP.

Be careful what you hear... People are still saying Pit is faster but Pittoo is slower and stronger. I just tested it though, I can't even pull it off against Bowser. You can tell what's a true combo in training mode, the combo counter is actually accurate at showing if the enemy had time to react or not (even if you hit the combo resets if it wasn't guaranteed). On the other hand, Buster D-throw > Jab combo works against the fatty characters. But N-air > (Stuff) is his only true combo against non-heavies.
D-throw > F-air is still really good, just don't expect it to always work. Shulk's F-air has so much range people hardly expect it though.

This is scary.
ez
The window of hitting is is pretty small but it's pretty much a OHKO on lightweights. For the fact that I can't find the smashboards thread, I'll explain. For some reason, the first hit of Mii Brawler's Piston Punch UpB has outrageously high knockback for no reason, yet it still chains into the rest of the hits. This means that, if put in a good position where the first hit hits and the second doesn't, the opponent will go flying off the stage. EDIT: So...yeah. I just found out how easy it is to get Project M, so I downloaded it. ...Pretty cool stuff. It's only mildly related to this, so ignore it if you want.
