To put it simply, release the game, but double the amount of robots in it. It must be virtually identical, but perhaps have a second story arc after the first one. The gameplay must be identical, and the new robots must 'fit in' with the old ones. Although you could easily change the gunmans into true, fully-tech'd out dashing heroes, and let the ninjas wallrun and stuff like that, it needs to stay a goofy toy game for a long time in order for it to succeed.
So double the robots. Add online play. Add cooperative story mode. Keep all the current bots and first story arc identical.

I remember it being mentioned on here, but I couldn't find it so I am posting this here instead.
Remember how Gotcha Force was re-released in Japan in 2012?
I just found out that almost a month before the re-release date it was sold out thanks to pre-orders.
If this was a test... glorious things might happen.

I think the game would be more fun if there was switching out allowed. I just realized that my most hated part about gotcha force is the fact that you need to organize your borgs with the knowledge that your opponent will have to kill them in a certain order. This makes training harder, and you'd be able to do so much more combos with a switching out system. I'd probably keep it at a limited switching out system, like you can only switch your borg with an adjacent borg in the force. But to make it work competitively, I'd probably also add in some frames after the switching out where the new borg is vulnerable for a few seconds. And I'd make it so that all attacks would be on the field even after the borg is gone, so that arrow ninja could wreak havoc on the field  |

You know what's actually pretty annoying once you notice it? Every time the camera cuts to a more dramatic angle for an attack you lose the ability to change your target. Meaning, for example, that you can't target your next target while finishing off an opponent with the G Red Air Combo. Any potential sequel would be significantly improved by not doing that.

I hope you can run in Gotcha Force 2 without eying the foes the whole time.
So you can move freely and don't have that aim support.

For starters, I would like its story to give more insight on Planet Megaborg, G Black and the pasts of Sho and Orochi, develop more ice type, demon and generally more borgs, online multiplayer.
