Three different instances of “Saint Valentine” are mentioned in the Catholic records. All of them are listed as martyrs. The St. Valentine associated with the day in February 14, according to legend, was a priest living during the Roman times. The Emperor at that time banned weddings so more young men could join the army. Valentine, however, continued to wed young couples. He was eventually caught and sentenced to death. During his time in jail, the jailor’s daughter visited St. Valentine in his cell. Before his death, Valentine wrote her a note, signing it “Your Valentine.” He was executed on the 14th of February. This began all these Valentines Day traditions.

Didn't hang out in any jail cells, but me and my girlfriend did go see Coraline in 3D.
Also, chocolate. <3
