Seriously, what is the deal with this kind of TV? ? ?
I've had 2 of them now, and both have ended up being replaced by my good old trusty SDTV.
First of all, the prize.
They're hugely overpriced, some to the extent you could buy a ******* car for the same prize!
Yes, I'm aware there are a lot of them in "normal" prize ranges, but those usually end up becoming broken in some way within the year.
Second, quality.
I've had a few TV sets throughout my years and they've all delivered many years of gaming and program watching. First after unspeakable amounts of (ab)use do they finally give in.
My first HDTV began loosing pixels, causing permanent black spots on the screen (excruciatingly annoying I assure you), after hardly two months of use!
The second, which I got from my brother recently, apparently had already started dying out, and I'm pretty sure he can't have owned it for much more than a year or two.
It too is now dead.
Third, performance.
OK, while I'm fully aware that none of my consoles where made with HD in mind, the very fact that my games actually look worse on a HDTV is pretty stunning. At least look the same, is all I ask!
My first HDTV couldn't even handle certain in-game flashes that some of my games (Gotcha included) performed, and the entire signal of game-to-TV would be lost for a few seconds!
From my point of view, HDTV's sucks.
Especially considered their cost, because you're forced to buy the more expensive ones if you wish to have a somewhat decent TV in the first place.
Not to mention all the expensive c**p you're forced to buy with it to actually enjoy the HD feature, since non-HD games at least looks worse on them.
HD itself is extremely overrated for my part. I don't care about seeing people's skin pores in detail!
I just want to enjoy the game/movie, and a good old, normal cost standard TV delivers that well and beyond.
Am I truly the only person in the world to feel like this?
Considering wherever I go, I see people have these TV's, and the stores are brimming with them only.
