I have a favorite pair of borgs: Acceleration Ninja and Samurai Shogun.
I grew up as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan (I'm old enough to have grown up on the Sega Genesis, so none of that weird stuff beyond the 'Adventures') so when I have a choice of characters for any game, I tend to stick to the small and fast types rather than the big and powerful types. During one of my first Gotcha Force battles, when i first laid eyes on the blue streak that had then just owned me, I knew him and I would get along just fine. For a long time, none of my parties were ever without at least one of these ninjas; I've successfully taken out a Sirius with one before. I am now at a point where i can completely control his speed, and change directions within a split second when necessary. It's also the only borg I'll take into the "Pop Honey battle", as being under the spinning spell does not affect the way I play with him; I can win the whole battle with just one borg constantly under the spell.
In-game, Tetsuya introduced me to the awesomeness that was the Samurai Shogun when I played the first "Kotaro's Crash Course" with a full party, and even Neo G Red fell to the unchallenged Tetsuya embarassingly quickly. When the "Dragon's Den" battle showed up, and I couldn't get anything to work, I finally earned a Shogun somehow (I might have traded with my friend for that one)...and destroyed the battle with liberal amounts of its X attack. I suddenly had the urge to laugh maniacally (I might have actually done so; my sisters might have been scared of me for it) and since then I've practiced with him until my friend absolutely forbade my use of him in a VS match. I never take on the dragon or fortress missions without a Shogun now; I'm just not confident in earning a victory without him.
When a glitch (not 20th Force) crashed my saved game data about three years ago, I abused the 20th Force Glitch to get back a couple of borgs so I wouldn't have to wait so long to earn them again. There are only four borgs I used it for, and was able to glitch the alternate, crystal, silver, and gold versions for them too (couldn't get shadow to work, but oh well; can't have everything): Galactic Emperor, G Black, Acceleration Ninja, and Samurai Shogun. Haven't had many Story-Mode-related problems since.

A few borgs I've fallen in love with:
Killer Girl
Imperial Knight
Elemental Knight
Sasuke
and Death Wing
along with my original favorites, Beam Gunner and Chrono Samurai.
Why:
Killer Girl - She's a fast, versatile sniper. Very good for me.
Imperial Knight - Flat out amazing. He can easily deflect an ult cannon beam. Those double shields give amazing protection, his combos are amazingly strong, and those X sword waves home and go on FOREVER! I LOVE it!
Elemental Knight - His melee and rocket fists are great, including the X attack, which is amazing... YUUREI, IF UR READING THIS, EK IS MADE COMPLETELY INVINCIBLE, HIS HITBOX VANISHES DURING X ATTACK, IT DOESNT MOVE, IT DISSAPEARS.
Sasuke - decent hp, fast, deadly from above melee, decent bombs, and that dash melee....A-MA-ZING!
Death Wing - Can pursue and kill any other borg in the air, fast, can fly, and very nice attacks.
Beam Gunner - ...HE FIRES HIS LAZARR.
Chrono Samurai - Sure, he's fragile, but he's like a Normal Samurai (Who I LOVE.) who CAN FREEZE TIME!
I'd have to say my #1 favorite would be Imperial Knight. Depends on whether Dark Knight fits my playstyle more, 1 hit powerhouse attacks appeal me.
All of the borgs I mentioned fit my playstyle.
No, I've never gotten a Dark Knight before.

No, I've never gotten a Dark Knight before. You know, I recommend that you just sit down and farm the Dark Knight mission with a Plasma Dragon for an hour or two the next time you get the chance to do so. Or at least I would if it weren't for the fact that you probably already do that when you feel like it. Probably without the Plasma Dragon, but... you get the point. |

Which reminds me, my alt Flame Dragon's still only level 6, I think.
But I'll worry about that when I take a break from leveling up all the normal Borgs.

Metal and gold hero were extremely useful. I liked basic g red and neo to a lesser extent when i started, but they got kind of old due to their op ness. Most of the ninjas were pretty legit. I specifically remember powered gunman being useful. Too.

Here is a list of my favorite Borg of each tribe plus my over all favorite
Ninjas Borg: Shurken Ninja because of its melee attack where it spins him self and his shuriken star. (~Edit~ this was hard because of Sasuke [normal ninja] and Cyber Ninja)
Nurse Borg: Nao (i don't like any of them but if i had to use one it would be Nao).
Dragon Borg: Cyber Death Dragon because with one shot it can bring down the Death Saucer.
Knight Borg: Vald (this was a hard choice because of Dark Knight, Vald [Vampire Knight], Saphire Knight amd Chainsaw Knight)
Fortress Borg: Death Saucer because it makes shot work of GE
Death Borg: Death ICBM because it will say bye bye to the hero's if Gold hero dose not transform.
Air Borg: Blue Striker because it has missiles ok not very powerful but it has missiles and valcan shots (but it was a hard choice because of Red Attacker)
Bug Borg: Alien Insect (i don't perticulerlatly like them but if i had to use one it would be Alien Insect)
Demon Borg: Akuma Samurai or Demon Samurai beacouse of random slash
Idol Borg: Pop Honey because there are no other options.
Girl Borg: Killer Girl because of her weapons (another hard choice beacouse of Kei [Battle Girl], Cyber Girl, Cyber Girl Super and Cyber Girl Hyper)
Gun Borg: Gatling Gunner because of the number of bullets (another hard choice because of Billy [Revolver Gunman] and Beam Gunner)

Hero Borg: Planet Hero or Star Hero because they are the most powerful
Wing Borg: Garuda because he is powerful (hard choice because of Blade Wing and Beam Wing Red)
Tank: Victory Machine because of the Jet form (hardest choice because i like all but ICBM Tank)
Machine Borg: UNDECIDED because they are quite good but i have ruled out Magnet Robot (+), Magnet Robt (-), Megaton Robot, Thunder Robot, Army Robot, Build Robot, Hammer Robot and Drill Robot
Wizard Borg: UNDECIDED because they are all S***.
Angel Borg: Ice Valkrie because she can freeze the opponents (i don't particularly like them but if i had to use one it would be Ice Valkrie)
Overall Favorite: Death Saucer

As far as design goes, I really like Ring Valkryie's design. She has a very...noble look about her, and she really resembles a Valkryie better than the other Valkryie borgs.
Golden armor, gigantic beam sword, razor shots, yeah. There's a fighter.

This is a no-brainer for me. Cyber Ninja. This guy is great. He can air dash better than anyone, has very few counters, and given enough time can kill anyone.
Also, i highly suggest learning Cyber Ninja's close up X attack. Yes, i know he doesn't have one, just hear me out. Air Dash up to someone, and use you close range b attack (a karate kick). Then, hit the X Button immeditely. You'll see Cyber Ninja from the side (the animation for the karate kick), but you'll also see in the animation, him launching the 4 shuriken. These actually fire fast enough (during the animation still) to hit before the opponent flinches, so it's a great way to get in extra damage (as all 4 shuriken as almost guaranteed to hit form that range). This technique has beaten many borgs for me.
Beam Gunner and Neo also come close, and Command/Barrier/Battle/Cyber/Cyber Super/Cyber Hyper all rock. Yes, i'm that guy who stands far away and snipes people. Dodge ratio 100%!!! ;D

my favourite borgsare probably garuda, dark knight and the grim reaper from orochi ( don't know the english name..)
for me it depends
the looking,
the variability, as for instance playing garuda gets boring really
fast, cuz he has no vriety, u always do the same
fly--> small bombs--->big bomb and some melee in between
the strength, a weak borg like gelee diver would never be my
favourite
