As you all know, i recently ordered a Sony Ericsson W810i from Ebay. I got the phone and it worked fine until last night. I took it off charge as it had been on for a while but it just kept saying it was still charging. So i left the battery to drain, thinking this morning i could just put it on charge like normal. So this morning the phone is dead, but when i put it on charge, i get nothing...
Indication of software failure should show a red light flashing in the infrared port but i don't get that, i get nothing at all...
Any ideas on what i can do guys?
Currently i have...
1. Contacted the person i bought it off on Ebay

As you all know, i recently ordered a Sony Ericsson Well there's your problem. Sounds like a wasted battery to me. Try get a new one. Or the charger could be busted. Pets like to chew on the charge cord and that could've messed it up.

Pets like to chew on the charge cord and that could've messed it up. My friend had the same phone for over a year and it worked fine. But he got robbed. It cant possibly be the battery, the phone is about 10 days old (well it might be now that i think of it) As for the charger, it could be that because one of the prongs are dodgy (But that wasn't down to any pet, i just noticed that today) But my USB charger ain't working either so it's gotta be either the battery, or software failure.

There's always the possibility that the seller gave you a bad phone. It is eBay after all. Other than that, it sounds like a dead battery to me, besides the part where it said it was charging when it wasn't.

That would just be typical of my terrible luck (Other then on Gotcha Force) The guy was selling loads and others gave great reviews with no problems. To get it fixed, i think i will have to pay between 20-40 Pounds (If i have to take it to the shop) Does anyone know how much it might cost to send it back to Hong Kong? I might be able to do that but the seller says the buyer will have to pay if its faulty and it needs to be sent back. If it's 20 Pounds or more, i highly doubt i'll bother. If it is the battery (Which i hope it is) it'll cost me a mere 3.60 xD Mother will have to give me some money next week i guess...

Hong Kong, or actually most of East Asia, is notorious for fake electronics. I really wouldn't be surprised if it was a cheap knockoff with the logo painted on, but I would try getting a new battery first.

It has the same software as my friends phone did. Also, after looking online, it seems a lot of people have had this problem.

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!
So i got a new battery today and the phone is working again!! But it's doing what it did before, saying it's charging even when it's not. I performed a Settings Reset (Which clears the phone of anything i might have done to it so it's at it's factory state) - No result
Theres nothing on the flaming thing so it cant be a software thing unless its to do with files i have no access to (That can only be accessed with special software)
Or it could actually be my charging dock thats faulty so it thinks something is pressing against it when its not. But ima just go into a shop in a few weeks with 50 quid and tell the guy my story. For now i just cant let the phone die, at all!!

Ding dong your phone is dead. Long live your phone! I'm sorry, I have wanted to do that since you posted this topic. xD Don't worry man, it's fine. My phone WILL be cured. In about 2 months, after i've signed on, and got my back pay, i will use some of that money to take it to a phone repair shop. Then, my phone will not leave that shop, until it is in the best condition it can be, even if it costs me 50 quid!
