Found something on my harddrive from...several years back. Thought it'd be nice to show people, see their own thoughts on the matter, and whether they'd like to debunk or build up some theories.
It's also massively over-analyzing a silly little game, but what the h***. ONWARDS.
STUDY OF A GOTCHA BORG:
First off. Gotcha Borgs are from Mega Borg, a planet that was destroyed after Galactic Emperor unleashed his might as a Fortress Borg--surviving Gotcha Borgs, assuming there were any casualties, lodged themselves into containers called Gotcha Boxes (see down for info on the Gotcha Box) and rocketed themselves across the galaxy, many landing down upon Earth. Though this has no official name, this author will refer to this event as the Great Migration.
The culture and society of Gotcha Borgs is one of mystery--it's possible that they have a society very similar to human own, or they're completely out of place in this world. In any case, they are adaptable and versatile creatures, having working knowledge of the English/Japanese language after only a few days of landing on Earth, with the ability to do battle on foreign ground effortlessly, and utilizing strange and new areas to form a functional base of operations. As such, it can be assumed that while many Gotcha Borgs are prepped for combat, they are also quite capable ofworking and constructing with their abilities. Either that, or there's an endless supply of Build Robots.
Gotcha Borgs, this is an important fact, are not "borgs", per se. They are more than lifeless machines--individual Gotcha Borgs have personalities, unique looks, fighting styles, likes, dislikes, etc, etc, etc. They can feel pain, they can feel emotions, they can think things through. They are living creatures, just as living as you and I are. They have souls, they live, and they can die. These are referred to as Character Borgs, due to the fact that they are actually characters.
Borgs are organized into Tribes, which is their way of saying races. Each Tribe uses a unique style of combat, such as Knight borgs focusing on in-your-face power, while Gun borgs focus on blasting from far away.
It is assumed that borgs can be born of either gender (see below for more information), and as they grow, their abilities start to develop. They are then classified in a Tribe and continue to grow and train with knowledge of how they will fight--being born a certain way does not mean they are instantly classified into a Tribe, and they are able to learn a different style of fighting that nets them classification into a different Tribe as they grow. Girls are not instantly drafted into the Girl Borg Tribe, they are quite capable of living up to another tribe, as is evidenced by Nurse Borgs, Angel Borgs, and the Idol Borg.
ANATOMY OF A GOTCHA BORG:
There are two ways in which a Gotcha Borg can be created--Gotcha Borgs can be built, much like machinery, or they can be born. Again, Gotcha Borgs are just as living as other people, so they too have libido and a desire to reproduce. This is further proven by a few borgs' bios referring to bloodline, such as being born and having an anscestor/descendant. Since the females are...rather anatomically gifted, it is assumed that they mate and breed in the same way as humans do.
It should be noted, though, that Gotcha Borgs DO have a mechanical aspect to them, even the most humanoid ones. With slim bodies and elongated limbs, flexibility and mobility in combat seem to be of their utmost priority. Their lack of noses on their faces indicate either a lack of smelling, or an inapparent method of such. Their weaponry is large, oversized, and unweildy, but they can handle such things effortlessly, suggesting proportionate strength close to an ant's, and also suggesting a "bigger = better" approach to life--ironic, given their size.
Screws are placed at several areas on their bodies, though each of which in a rather...retarded area, given a screw's purpose. They seem to be just as firm/squishy as a borg's body, as attacks to a screw do just as much damage as hitting a Borg's normal skin. Seeing as how Borgs often wear armor, which cover these screws as well as their skin, it is safe to say that the screws serve no purpose at all except as a symbol of decoration, or for a purpose that is not normally for a screw. It is entirely possible that they serve an unknown purpose and merely look like screws.
Borgs have incredibly firm and nigh-impenetrable skin, as is learned by the fact that borgs can get shot, stabbed, impaled, and eviscerated without ever coming apart at all. Borgs can also fall from an unlimited height and have no damage on impact at all, except perhaps mild discomfort. Many of the attacks that the borgs use come out looking as special energy attacks, brightly-colored and slow-traveling. It can be assumed that this energy passes straight through a borg's skin, attacking the internals to do damage. If injured enough, the borg detonates.
ABILITIES OF A GOTCHA BORG:
It has been stated in the story mode that the only thing that can harm a Gotcha Borg is another Gotcha Borg, likely in part due to the nigh-impenetrable skin and special energy used in their attacks mentioned before.
Though nothing outside of a Gotcha Borg is capable of harming a Gotcha Borg, Gotcha Borgs themselves are under no such limitation. The fires they fling can fry things, the bullets they blast can put holes into things, and they are capable of harming, injuring, or even killing other creatures. Some gamers rumor that this is why Sho hates Gotcha Borgs to begin with, and that it is the unnamed fate of his father--unfortunately, there's no confirmation, merely assumptions.
Gotcha Borgs are also able to grow in height any time they desire. All that is stated about this ability is that it requires GF Energy, though how much is questionable. In the game, before and after the fights that require the Borgs to grow in size, no GF Energy is expended--you can use your largest and most expensive Force free as you wish. Thus, we can assume from this that either the height growing ability is able to expend so little energy that it cannot be noticed, or a certain threshold of energy must be reached first.
THE GOTCHA BOX:
When Mega Borg exploded, the Gotcha Box was created to use as a shuttle of transporation and mini-base of operations for the Gotcha Borgs concealed inside. This has a rebuilding and a cloning system inside--whenever a Gotcha Borg that originated from the machine is destroyed, the Gotcha Box instantly goes back to work to take the data on the destroyed borg and remake it into a clone. This clone apparently perfectly retains the personality and memories of the borg that was just destroyed, thus effectually making a borg immortal until its natural life cycle concludes--assuming it even does.
Every time a Gotcha Borg is defeated in the wild, the battle data from the Borg is transferred to the Gotcha Box--sometimes the box takes that data and creates a static clone, personality-less and thoughtless, little more than a bland machine used for combat.
THE GF COMMANDER:
This is where things get tricky. Exactly what does a GF Commander do for a Gotcha Borg? All that is said is that their courage is turned into GF Energy, which is their battle power.
But what, exactly, does a Commander do? How do they command their borgs in combat? The most obvious suggestion would be that the borgs literally are controlled by their user, much as you, the player, control one. However, by logic, this is not quite the end-all-be-all suggestion. First off, G Red was insistent upon Kou becoming his commander, despite Kou likely having absolutely NO combat experience beforehand, especially in things like martial arts, swordplay, vehicular assault, and gunslinging. For a combat-hardened machine to choose such a childish novice as his Commander would likely indicate that the Commander does not directly control the borg, or else G Red would have to be freakin' insane.
Another suggestion is that the borgs are like Pokémon--they have free will, and act upon the commands given them if they so please or see fit. There is very little evidence to support or refute this, aside from how the Dark Knight left Orochi shortly after it's defeat in the Death Base.
Or perhaps Commanders do little more than supply GF Energy, which is the source of the Borgs' beam attacks?
An easy compromise to the beliefs is that Commander and Borg share minds in battle, with the Commander providing the basic impulses to move, attack, use this skill or that, etc. and the borg using its own natural skills to act on those impulses.
This theory is the easiest to support. Each borg has its own specific abilities and fighting style, and Character Borgs are more than just an empty shell for the commander's mind to control. However, commanders can feel pain from the borgs that are destroyed, lose GF Energy (which comes from their own fighting spirit, remember) as the borgs are destroyed, and are rendered unable to continue battling for a while after their energy is exhausted. This is also exactly the relationship the real-life player has with the borgs as well--they provide basic controls, pushing buttons and moving joysticks, and the borg acts on the input in its own way.
It's also massively over-analyzing a silly little game, but what the h***. ONWARDS.
