Hey,
I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I believe I've found a rather neat technique in Gotcha Force, which I'm calling "Dodge Cancelling".
Keep in mind, all of my current testing has been with normal ninja. I believe this technique will not work with every character, but play around with it!
So, I'll start with the process of it. When you are in in the air, you can dodge but tapping up, down, left, or right once. This dodge can be cancelled once by simply attacking with b. However, this puts you in a sort of hitlag, where you can't immediately follow up, and start descending to the group.
This is where dodge cancelling comes in.
You can basically buffer a second dodge, so that no hitlag occurs, and your falling speed remains the same as a normal dodge. If you dodge twice, and immediately follow up with b, you will:
1) dodge
2) attack with b
3) immediately dodge afterwords
Now, the cool thing about this is, like the first dodge, you can cancel your second dodge to attack immediately after. This allows you to string attacks in the air without falling immediately, and allows a whole lot of crazy aerial control. You can also follow up a dodge cancel with a dodge cancel!
One cool application I've found for this is being able to follow up your b attack with an (almost)immediate x attack if timed correctly.
You can also, if timed correctly, jump, immediately cancel your jump with a dodge cancel, and the second dodge after your b attack will be a ground dodge.
I've only tested this with normal ninja, so if anyone is interested, try it with normal ninja, then some other characters, and see if you can do anything cool with it!
I can also create a video some time this week if there is any interest in it.
An easy example:
1) use normal ninja
2) jump up(jump 2 or 3 times so you have time to mess up)
3) tap right twice, and almost immediately after, hit b
You'll notice youll dodge, break the dodge to attack with your shuriken, and then immediately follow up the attack with a second dodge
