Fire Emblem: If is the 14th game in the Fire Emblem series, to be released in June for Japan, and in 2016 for NA and EU. The main point of the game has been shown of choosing sides between the Hoshido, and the Nohr. These are going to apparently be split into two different games, but a limited edition version of both will be avaliable. In addition, when buying one version, the other will apparently be avaliable via DLC along with a third path where the player sides with neither.
I'm mainly just posting this here for little tidbits and updates I see. Apparently the "Dark Priest" is a class now, brought back from the final boss of Fire Emblem 4. (Except the only thing the two have in common is their name). The class is able to use swords and dragonstones, and judging from another screenshot where we see the main character transform, I'm gonna say this is the main character's primary class, or an advancement of it.

Change the title to Fates, instead of If.
Also, which version do we get? And the other is dlc? I forget which we get and which is dlc, but I plan on getting both, and the neutral.
Regardless, I think i like the Nohr better, for the characters, but the Hoshido for the beliefs.

I know hoshido is easier, but yolo No, Hoshido is more like Awakening where you have a world map. That's gonna be a really jarring change for everyone who picks Nohr who's only played Awakening; no grinding, no shop whenever you want, nothing of the sort. I know it was jarring for me when I first played FE7.

Yeah this looks good. In japan, there are going to be two different versions of the game for sale, and the one you buy will give you the Nhor/Hoshido side. Then you can buy the other paths as DLC. Special editions have all 3 paths. I don't like the way that's handled, I really don't, since most choices of this nature in games are very much things that most players don't plan for. Oh well. I'll be going Nhor anyway. I like the idea of returning to a Not Awakening structure and I also like the idea of transforming a country from the inside.
But man, I just want one of these new Fire Emblem games to be on the Wii U. I honestly wish they would get the old character designers back, too.
... Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem seems to be actively trying to push away long term fans of both franchises, at least in the west.

SMTxFE in general is just...not even reminiscient of either series, and that's why I'm not bothering with it. In addition, I'd love an HD Fire Emblem, yeah. I'm also not a big fan of the Pokémon/esque "choose a version" stuff either, but I'll be picking up the entire thing regardless because I'm very excited and I think all three paths will be great. ...Is what I would have said before this last trailer. I don't know, something about this dancer girl is really making me on edge, because I liked the conflict between the Hoshido and Nohr and your choice...and this trailer just focused on that stupid girl. I get she's clearly going to be important to the story, but I feel it's taking the story in a direction I did not think the story was going to be taken.

I get she's clearly going to be important to the story, but I feel it's takin Aqua, the dancer looking girl, is a member of the Nohrian Royal Family, apparently a prisoner of Hoshido for most of her life. Kamui, the main player character that you create and control, is a member of the Hoshido royal family who was adopted into the Nohrian Royal Family at a very young age.
Supposedly, each of the individual paths the game can take will be about the size of, or slightly bigger than, Fire Emblem Awakening. I think they're trying to say that the game wasn't built up on one cartridge, then when it was finished, split off into two smaller games on different cartridges. The Hoshido Path will apparently resemble Awakening and Gaiden both in gameplay and in story - apparently, the Nohr path is not only returning to more rigid resource distribution but a story centered more around internal affairs and intrigue. I'm guessing more along the lines of FE10 and maybe FE4.
. . . Really, if you want Fire Emblem Info. . . try Serene's Forest. I've even gone and selected the FE14 Tag for you guys.

There's quite a lot to look over. My Castle has a slew of features, there's Nohr and Hoshido weapons having different names, designs, stats, stat boosts and penalties. Unbreakable weapons that are harder to acquire. Recruiting Generics via prisons and capture. That. . . transforming fox guy. Phoenix mode. Dragon Veins and Dragon Vein Points. Amiibo support. . . Just. . . stuff.

Honestly, Aqua is the one part of the story that has me really interested. While I'm sure the political intrigue and the decisions and stuff will be all fine, it's all just plot twists and fluff. The actual wars and the political stuff were the absolute worst part of Awakening, and in other Fire Emblem games prior they largely served as filler or a way to build up the themes of distrust/the horrors of war.
The end of all the Fire Emblem games have always been the most interesting and thematically rich for me, and I can only assume that everything regarding Aqua and the Hero's beast form will tie into that. I love the idea that stuff you do may actually affect the lives of the characters beyond life/death of people or a faceless statistic, and that your own character may not be totally noble. I absolutely love the last line of the trailer 'If you're going to kill me, do it as yourself.' I hope they do a lot of stuff with the Beast form and how that relates to Aqua and the world at large, how the hero may just be as monstrous and the monsters/enemies he's fighting, with the beast form merely being a metaphor for a ruthless commander. While I'm sure he'll always be a noble leader trying to keep his army alive, (this is the entire gameplay of FE after all) I can see how the Beast form and his actions as a commander will really start to break him down when he has to fight his friends on the other side, where he may start to see himself as the true monster, and that will come across if he hurts Aqua, as well. I see the potential for a very small and personal story told in big way.
The only issue I see is Aqua being devoted in that typical anime fashion to someone fundamentally abusive- a literal monster. There has to come a point where she doesn't even feel safe around the person she loves and leaves him, possibly for the other side, or they have some other kind of conflict. The story will have to do its best to avoid coming across as pandering and tone-deaf. It will have to make sure that Aqua comes across as a believable person and not a 'pure maiden' archetype.

If I'm getting this game, I'm probably waiting until some 'Special Edition' with all available routes comes out. Assuming that's even a thing.

That's funny, I generally prefer the start. I like the whole narrative concept of war and how people handle it and the such, and when it goes to crazy supernatural stuff I start to be a bit...disappointing, I guess. Not because of the supernatural stuff itself, but how they handle it. I'm interested to see where they take it, I'm just skeptical.

I know in japan, you download it, then around chapter 4 or 6, you basically choose your side, basically deciding your version. Now, I don't know if that will be the same here in the west, but I'd rather download it, and get the other two paths as dlc. Just my opinion on how it should be.

I know it's not a big deal and I am sure you guys know already, but it has been confirmed that no matter the gender, you can marry any character in this game.
Just wanted to say and maybe get some thoughts on it. I personally don't really care, besides the fact that I can still marry my favorite female characters regardless of gender of my avatar, so that is a plus.

Friday, Fates comes out finally! I've got Birthright pre-ordered at GameStop already and I have enough money on my 3DS to buy Conquest. Just gonna need $20 more for Revalations, but I can get that at the end of this month.

So, I screwed up a bit in Birthright, but I'm just doing this first run as a trial run of sorts to see and try the new things so I can better understand stuff. I got a guy killed I could've prevented from dying, but ah well. After I do birthright, I'm gonna do a Conquest run, then go for supports till Revelations is out
I married Hinoka this first run. My second run will be Syalla, I hate her english name, so I won't mention it. Thinking of going Camilla first for Conquest.
