I heard that if you play with special versions of borgs in your team (gold, crystal, etc) it increases your chances of fighting special versions of borgs. Is there any truth to this? Even a grain? Or is this just one of those unsubstantiated rumors? (Kind of like: after you throw a pokeball push A really fast/hold down & B/rotate the d-pad/whatever to have a better chance of catching it.)

I don't think there has been any hard evidence to say that the chances of SPOTTING a rare Borg by using rare borgs.
Um id suggest ask Death Eye but i think he would give a simular response.

I figured that would be the case, but I wanna ask. If there is any truth to this, it would be great to know. If there is any way to find out for sure, this forum will do it~

No. It can't be true. I can fly if I wanted to. Like a bird in the sky If I believe I can fly Why, I'll fly!
In all seriousness, no, not that I've heard of.

*science mode* We could do a ton of battles using only rare borgs or only normal borgs, tally when we see rare borgs and average the percent of the times we see them and see if it's significantly different... But no, I haven't heard of it or noticed a significant change either

Since I'm still recovering from the 2nd time my file was wiped (things would be so much easier if I could copy my Gotcha Force saved data between memory cards) I don't have rare borgs to test this with.

Also it'd take at least 1,000 battles to accurately test this. Just saying, just doing something like 100 battles each wouldn't cut it. You may not even find a rare borg in 100 battles. That'd take some serious time; we're talking a good 40+ hours here.

To my knowledge, having rare borgs doesn't affect your chances of seeing wild rare borgs. But I could be wrong as I've never actually tested this.

Would it be any less accurate if we divided the 1000 experiment matches into a fraction among each of us? Like I'd do 200 with a gold borg, 200 normally. Four others would do the same, all under the same circumstances

Four others would do the same, all under the same circumstances To my knowledge, the usual suspects which would cause such a difference are invisible. They may or may not be there, and we could not know without truly peeking around un-obfuscated code or making truly extensive testing between us all.
That and we'd have to pay attention to what playthrough number we're doing this on since that is a separate factor.
