I'm sure the Gotcha Community must've thought of this, right? I can't be the only one who's tried netplay for virtually every system and game, right? If they can stress test Melee like this, I'm sure that it should, in theory, be able to hand a handful of bullets in a 1v1 match. (Now, that's not to say that all GC games are built alike; They're not, and clearly Melee was the base for Dolphin, along with WindWaker, very much like SM64 was the base for Project 64)
If anyone has an iso backed up on their PC and is willing to test netplay on Dolphin with me, I'm available (reply here though.)
And I would just like to reiterate. It's definitely possible to create a connection between players and play the game. It's just not certain if it'll lag horribly, or desync. You /can/ play VS.

Problem: As far as I know very few of us have the computing power necessary to run Dolphin at a bearable speed. And that's not even getting into controllers, save files, adequate bandwidth, or the question of whether or not Dolphin's netplay feature could really handle 300 bullets' variable velocities and accelerations in three dimensions. And as for testing it out, I personally do not fall in that aforementioned "very few" group, so I can't. Give it 12 hours, though, you'll have a more helpful response from somebody.

This; we've gone through this before.

My computer's pretty decent, I play Gotcha Force on emulator now, but some missions slow down considerably, especially when there's many giant machine borgs. Honestly though, it's not worth the time to play try playing online. If it even miraculously works without getting desynced within the first three seconds, it'll lag really badly to the point of being unplayable... The emulator's just not stable enough, and Gotcha Force is a demanding game.
Maybe it'd be plausible if both players had a super gaming computer and super internet, but yeah, sorry... Just trust me, it's not worth the time to try.

Don't know how to set it up, but this sounds interesting.
(Of course, I get massive amounts of slowdown just playing normally so I can't even begin to imagine the horrific amounts of lag that I would have.)

You guys make me feel like I'm running a super computer. Specs aside, in a one-on-one both people would have to try pretty hard to use borgs that shoot over 20 bullets at a time, so I think the systems could actually handle it (in terms of... slowdown) but uh, desync, again, is another story.
Ahwell, another topic for another time.

Ahwell, another topic for another time. Gatling Gunner, Gatling Tank, Ultimate Cannon, a level 10 Death Borg Lambda II, a level 10 Death Borg Alpha II, a Sirius being played by somebody who doesn't know how to use a Sirius. Half a dozen examples of Borgs that can do that without the Power Boost. Factor that in and just about anything with a projectile can have that many shots flying at once. And yes, you are running a supercomputer.

That's a very interesting idea. Didn't know that you could play multiplayer on Dolphin. However, my graphics card hates me, and minecraft slows down sometimes, too i wish i could run it, though.

I would love to do this. However, there is no way my crappy school computer could handle it. It has broken and needed to be fully replaced 3 times within as many weeks...

This interests me /greatly/, and I think I'm going to try and figure out if this would work later today. I know my computer can run GF on Dolphin fine, and it shouldn't be hard to find a friend who can too, but I haven't any experience with the Netplay features. I guess I'll have to learn myself how that operates.

It's a cool idea but I really don't think it will work in the end.

Once I get a new Mobo for my desktop I'd be up to try this with someone. Assuming I can find the time to softmod my Wii and get the backups and whatnot. We can trade data crystals or whatever.

it dosent work to well on my laptop as the Normal Ninja (which i use a lat) that im using would not stand a chance agenst Claw Robot but on the Wii its the other way round. so do you think id play online.
however Project 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time works like a dream.
