Right so we all have our favourite borgs. However, has there ever been a time where you rediscovered a borg that you didn't like but found growing on you?
After losing my memory card with my Gotcha Force files on it, I recently started a new on my spare card and found myself starting to actually put some usage into Normal Knight, a borg that I always found overpriced when compared to something like Normal Ninja.
This came from me getting better at utilizing a technique I call "Shield Buffering". Basically, Shield Throw to cover your advance as well as using it to extend melee combos. If I end up getting the camera/capture card I asked for Christmas, I might end up putting up a video to better explain.
Anyone else got examples of learning to love borgs that you thought were crap before?

Yep, I have returned.
And also, yep, Wing Soldier is the guy with the crossbow and the sword and the bird-likeness.

Hey, it's that guy who I can never remember if his name has a capital I or a lowercase L because sans serif fonts suck. Welcome back!
To answer the question, it took me until a couple weeks ago to figure out that Metal Hero can actually survive two-on-one fights, so that's something. And there was also that 15-minute period where I thought I figured out how Carrier Helicopter is supposed to not suck, but then it kind of stopped working...

Recently I have become quite fond of Alien Insect and Carrier Helicopter. Before I didn't have much fun using them because I thought they were clunky and awkward to use. But trying them again I find them to be quite fun to use. I like putting Alien Insect on a team with Jet Hero and Usagi. I will cover the stage in scopes forever!

I find the best way to use Carrier Heli is to not use it at all stop playing like the other air borgs and fight close to the ground. Then it's basically a buffed Battle Girl (stronger attacks, more ammo and more HP) for the cost of an extra 160 GFE and not having a melee.

fight close to the ground. I have noticed that the closer I am to the ground (to a point) the more accurate the missiles are. Also, I am immensely amused by how the copter strafes. It makes sense, is a nice touch, and allows me to shoot so much better. Honestly, that strafing is corner stone for my new opinion of Carrier Helicopter.

If you like how it plays, try flying saucer when you get it. They're the only two borgs with that unique flight style, and Flying Saucer works well on the air and on ground level.

If you like how it plays, try flying saucer when you get it. Popped an old one I had lying around on a team. SUCH POWER Such grace New found appreciation indeed. I guess I just didn't know how these air borgs were supposed to handle, and now that I am finally figuring them out... Edit: Yeah, I totally dig these borgs. You know that match "Defeat the Angle Borg unit!" in The Pit? Where it is constantly 3v1? Totally just soloed it with a level 1 Flying Saucer.

Only borg with any sort of aerial function (not wing) that I like more is Victory Machine. That's been an old favorite of mine. Glad you like saucer.

Borgs i hated that i use now tho? Umm hmm id say magnet robot. I find that if i strafe and shoot and dont hit x at all he is semi decent. The minus version is even better due to his beam shots.

the main newfound appreciation is probably Cosmic Dragon (the first dragon iv got on with) as i never got on with dragons. I like the black hole cause it will suck the shits from the other borgs guns. iv also git on with Saphier Knight which is the first knight i have got one with.

After hearing Dillybar's praise about Orange and Blue, I decided to try out orange fighter again. OMG SO AMAZING. I used to think these things sucked, but they're amazing!

I just checked Orange Fighter's Napalm Bomb... Unlike his Power Beam, you don't even need to be facing your intended target before you drop it. Once it hits the ground it will automatically start blowing up towards whoever you are locked on to. That thing is so accurate. It just gets a bad rap because it drops so slowly...

I dig Alien Insect. Even though he is labeled as a "Bug Borg" he is essentially a Knight Borg, but he has RANGE His stats don't suffer from this either. 200 HP, 5 defense, 2 shot, 5 attack, and 4 speed. I mean, his HP is a tad low, but I noticed that he generally lasts longer than Axe Knight (another unit I quite like) and is a little more than half his cost (350 and 590 respectively). His Insect Bomb is really small and hard to see/dodge. I have been punking people out often with that sucker punch shot. And while range suffers from the fact that his projectile moves a bit slowly, his Insect Scope evens that out by making his shots travel faster. And, unlike the other scope users (like Jet Hero and Beam Wing Blue) he has a way to deal with others taking advantage of his scope (meaning he has a shield). Dude also looks wicked cool in blue. He really rocks that alternate color scheme. I initially blew him off because I thought he was a clunky pile of crap, but after becoming more familiar with the Knight Borgs I find him quite easy to use. I guess I was just having the same problem I did with Flying Saucer

And so commences the age of the grounded Air Borgs hmm this intrigues me. I do desire to try this myself, as well. As for me, it is Megaton Robot. That head is a lot stronger than I used to give credit for. He's not entirely OP or anything, but it is fun to use him once in a while ^^

I guess I was just having the same problem I did with Flying Saucer Never made the connection until now, but Alien Insect is kind of a toned down Ruby Knight in almost every way, except for X. I think the main reason I never used him that much is that I could just use Ruby Knight instead. And I'm pretty sure Alien Insect's scope makes attacks smaller while not affecting speed, creating the illusion that the bombs are traveling faster relative to their size. And so commences the age of the grounded Air Borgs hmm this intrigues me. I do desire to try this myself, as well. As for me, it is Megaton Robot. That head is a lot stronger than I used to give credit for. He's not entirely OP or anything, but it is fun to use him once in a while ^^ Flying Saucer and Carrier Heli are really the only air borgs that can play similar to "normal" borgs because of their side strafe. I'd say Flying Saucer does better in the air, but Carrier Heli is definitely better when used on the ground, at least according to my experience. Megaton Robot, or any of the machine borgs with the same aerial kick, is really fun to combo kick with. Deals massive damage and the next few kicks are pretty much guaranteed if you can land that first kick. Actually, if you're trying for that, Magnet Robot might not be a bad choice. Finally a use for Magnet Robot besides taking up space in the warehouse!

I rarely even use their respective X attacks because their melee is just so boss.

Alien Insect's X makes whatever goes through it smaller and weaker too. I remember it being a fairly substantial decrease when i was testing it.

Sonic Samurai, Tao Master, Cyber Hero, and non-setup Metal Hero.
I think I've explained this before, but in short, I didn't like Sonic Sam since the first time I tried it was against Garuda (so I got trashed), but I recently played him again last year or so and he's really fun. Tao Master is also fun, didn't like him at first because he falls so quickly when you shoot (but I learned that it's an integral part of how he plays), Cyber is another fun one who I didn't like because he controls differently than everyone else, and non-setup Metal because...well...he's awesomely powerful but extremely fragile.
