First settled by the Spanish in 1522, the country of Nicaragua won its independence in 1823. This country has an outstanding amount of culture, as well as many interesting facts.
Nicaragua is home to a republic government. The politics in this country are mostly dominated by the Liberals centered in the city of Leon, and by the Conservatives who are centered in the city of Granada. There have also been many dictators struggling for power.
