It is basically a fifteen min look into the game, but in the form as an episode.
It is a prequel to the series

Guilty Crown is pretty much my favorite anime... But I did hate some plotholes. I didn't like the whole sister thing, or that one guy getting revived with a completely contradicting personality. (Avoiding spoilers here just in case) Inori relationship seemed a bit forced, as she really didn't even have much screentime through the series, or at least didn't do much besides <blank stare> Still.. Shu is a great character, and most of his friends remind me of people I know/knew. Well, it's just I have a lot of personal reasons for liking the anime so much, despite having a lot of stupid plotholes. No other anime has hit so close to home. On another note, it's almost scary how many people hate this anime. Many of the comments I read on this elsewhere, people are cursing out the anime and tons of people saying it's the worst anime ever. Just look here: myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=431673(It's around 50/50 like-hate, but the hate crowd is exceptionally vocal)

Can you tell that I like Shu? And jeez those guys on my anime list really hated that thing... Guilty crown sits at my 9th spot on favorite animes for it's flaws but it's still enjoyable to watch and the characters and narrative issues are mostly resolved in the second half. It all gels together if you think about it for long enough. And they're going away and saying that code geass was pretty bad... wow these guys are not to be trusted.

Haha, I don't mean to be a downer, but from what I saw of it, I'm in the "hate" crowd I guess. I LOVE Code Geass season 1 (R2 was kinda...meh). I thinka lot of the hate comes with the "It's like Code Geass!" Hype. It's not that I hate it...I just find it overly boring in comparison to say, Code Geass. I only watched two episodes, but this is what I disliked from them: - boring main character (I mean, I'm sure he gets better later on, but he's not entertaining at first lol). The other characters were pretty weak too, (from what I saw). - innappropiately timed fan service (That girl just got kicked in the face! That's NO TIME for some jiggle man. Major turn off for the anime. Also, that girl should wear something else for missions, just saying xD). - CGI Mechs. It just doesn't look good IMO. Drawn would have looked tons better (or at least tried to make it look drawn, it's just too obvious here). - too convenient/deux ex machina. I mean, in the second episode that guy just HAD to have that weird reflector thing as his special power or whatever. I dunno, the two eps. I watched just weren't interesting to me. It almost seemed like Code Geass R2, except they don't have that charismatic main character (Lelouch imo is the only thing that held up R2). It just...doesn't have flair for me. I don't mean to be rude, just giving reasons why some might dislike the anime , I just coudln't stomach more than two eps though <_< sorry...

^R2 was better imo. Wouldnt have been without R1 to have story of course, but R1 had a lot of...eh moments. It had inappropriately timed fanservice in bits too. Example:(in R1) First big battle in the ghettos. Lelouch calls Shirley, who just so happens to have just changed to gym outfit.
Battle with guns. Girl in skanty gym clothes. DA FUQ.
My point, you cant put that as how it beats Geass R1 when the same thing was in early R1. Also, Kallen shower scene.

herpanda You're in the 'legit' hate(dislike) crowd. You don't just say 'Guilty Crown is the worst piece of **** ever" Anyway, I understand why a lot of people don't like it, it's just to the extent they badmouth it that surprises me. The anime does give a lot of reason to hate. Even though I say it's my favorite anime, I can say it's severely flawed. (I actually loved the CGI mechs. But I love mechs in general.)(The white mech is beautiful ;-; And it's sad that mechs with great design are just fodder to cut in half) But, well, I have my reasons for liking it as much as I do. Some people like some animes, some don't. Everything is only as it is. Edit: Oh, yeah, a bit of spoilers: The guy that had a reflector void wasn't much of a coincidence, as Gai is able to see people's voids. Unless you mean it's a coincidence that HE had the void they needed, but I don't really see how it's a Deus Machina Demonbane. And I guess I may as well address the other two points. Well, I can see why you don't like Shu, but I guess it all comes down to people's views, because he's one of the biggest reasons I like Guilty Crown. And fan-service, I was glad it was very minimal actually. Even the beach episode just did away with it quickly in the beginning. Besides Inori's clothing, yeah... But it doesn't matter to me, because seeing mechs is more fanservice to me than anything.

It had inappropriately timed fanservice in bits too. By, "innappropriately timed", I mean the girls were getting BEAT UP while the fan service was happening. I mean, shower scene, of course it's fanservice. Random swimsuits, okay. Getting kicked in the face? That's definitely not the right time to put jiggle on. The closest CG gets to that is the bath scene near the end with Kallen, but even then there's no intention of harming Kallen. It's a very laid back episode, so it's not as bad as above. I mean, he wasn't socking her in the face lol. @ Claxus: xD I don't like fanservice either, but I can tolerate it in anime in small amounts. What I didn't like about GC's fan service is that they were beating up the person who the fanservice was coming from. I don't know if you noticed (it's just jiggle), but to me, it's just VERY bad timing, and imo just crosses the line. Yeah, I didnt like that it was a coincidence that HE had the void they needed. I don't know if it's a recurring thing, but since it happened so early on I assumed there were going to be more coincidences. It's not deux ex machina per say lol (I just wanted to say it 'cause it's a mech anime xD), but it felt too coincidental, too early on. I guess it's a love it or hate it thing. I mean, I wished I liked it lol, I've been looking for a new mecha to watch, but all I have is gundam now lol.

Oh, cool, so you've actually seen Demonbane? It was a bit disappointing to me (most boring mecha fights ever?), despite the awesome designs and potential. A little too much fanservice, but the characters and development were great. One of my favorite OPs in animes, too. (And dang, Daijuji entirely skipped the mandatory emo phase and just geared up to keep fighting right after, with that eerie/emo/uplifting song playing)
... Assuming you did watch it.
But I guess you're right about it being too much of a coincidence that Daryl had the void for their plan. It's somewhat reasonable, if you think about it though. He's a narcissist, and pretty much shuns everyone away. (In the end, he's actually a pretty nice guy? I mean, what was up with that scene at the end... I guess he did become more tolerable, but I wish they would have followed that up a bit more)
In the anime's defense, it pretty much is the kick logic out and do the impossible type... I mean, Souta's void opens doors. It doesn't knock them over and blast them open... It cleanly opens any kind of door. Or a food can. A random nameless girl has a sweet scythe void... If you think about it, almost everything is illogical. So part-way into the show I just started accepting everything. So many odd-chanced things happen normally.
Well, in the end, what matters is if you liked it or not. It's not like disliking it is a bad thing. Unless you hate it like a demon like a lot of people do.
Oh, and for mech animes, have you watched Overman King Gainer or Break Blade? I also plan to watch Star Diver soon.

^when you said demonbane, I thought you were pulling a pun xD, I thought you meant, "there's deus ex machina, but at least it isn't the bane of demons, so it's not TOO bad". My bad lol So the voids represent the people's personalities? That's cool actually lol, I guess I just didn't catch the explaination or anything (or maybe I quite too early). I actually expected it to be a more logical/planned out type show, so perhaps I just went into it with the wrong mindset (I mean, it didn't present itself like Gurren Lagann xD, so it wasn't too obvious). Still, its just strange to me that an anime can have such a split reception lol. I probably won't continue watching, but thanks for the insight man. And no, I haven't watched either of those, but they sound familiar. I've seen mostly just UC Gundam, a couple AC, and some random other mechas that I happen to find here and there. Thanks for the recommendations

Yes herpanda, but once again. Swimsuit. Shooting. Bad timed.
Also, that's what would really happen if you kicked a girl and she falls over.

Yes, but they weren't shooting the girl in the swimsuit, were they? Like I said, I worded it incorrectly, it's not "badly timed", it's just disgustingly placed. Girl over the phone isn't disgusting, but placing fanservice where someone is in mortal danger of their life, that's disgusting. And, they didn't have to make it so pronounced. I'm sure there have been plenty of anime's that have handled girls getting kicked to the face better, without such fanservicey physics. I mean, sure, there are people that like that kind of stuff, but personally I think it's just beyond wrong.
