I main Death Borgs.
Okay,
technically I don't main
anything anymore since I've been focusing on leveling everything up, but if I were to go up against someone in Versus at this exact moment my force would be largely composed of Death Borgs... followed by a few better Borgs in the back because I always have the better Borgs toward the back of the force.
(WARNING! INCOMING WALL!)Alpha's pretty good for when I want some shuriken spamming ability for the absolute minimum cost, but naturally Alpha II's better in every conceivable way except cost, so I typically go with Alpha II and put it toward the back of the force.
I only use Beta when my armies of Death Borgs start getting into the 15+ Borg range, and he goes toward the front.
Beta II used to be one of my personal favorites, but then I forget what happened, and now I'm not too fond of him.
Beta III, however, I
do like; he's like a really small Hammer Robot with Air Jumps instead of the Boost Jump and no melees, which doesn't bother me because I don't melee too much with Hammer Robot anyway.
I also enjoy using Gamma; he's like a Knight, only without a shield (basically) and with better combo ability. No, seriously, try dashing in the middle of his basic combo and continuing to attack; he doesn't do that stupid slow stab attack.
(Here is where I notice my tendency to refer to Death Borgs as "he.")
Gamma II's like Gamma, only with a shield throw instead of decent basic attacks. But whatever, I can spam that shield throw like there's no tomorrow. Or I can spam it to the beat of "Break" by Three Days Grace. Yes, that actually happened, and my mind was thoroughly blown when I noticed it.
Delta's basically the same as Beta in terms of usage.
Delta II I like for the 11 inconsequential bullets and the one that actually has a noticeable effect. Kind of like a
WAY weaker Killer Girl, come to think of it, in terms of basic strategy for me.
Delta III I use in place of (or along with) a Spinner Girl when I want to spam some yo-yos around walls.
Zeta is surprisingly good, I've found. But I don't really have much of an opinion on him.
Zeta II is one of my favorites; I thoroughly enjoy gliding across the ground shooting three giant Xs at enemies.
Zeta III and IV I rarely ever use, but I prefer Zeta IV over Zeta III, what with the beams.
(Here is where I forget the order of the Death Borgs by number and use Steve's post as a reference to remember them all.)
Theta, being the Death Borg Nurse, I rarely use, as I typically don't have an ally in Story.
Iota is excellent for until that 100 ammo runs out. Then everything starts to go downhill for some reason.
Sigma and Sigma II are too good, so I only use them as last lines of defense in Story when I have room and a need to.
Lambda and Lambda II are similarly too good, so I use them similarly.
Omega is pretty good, but not as good as the other Omegas.
Particularly Omega II. Omega II can annihilate
A CRAPLOAD of enemy backside with those Hammer Shots, due in large part to their ability to block bullets.
Omega III is a pretty good mid-range type of Borg.
Overall, Omega IV's probably not as good as Omega III, but I prefer the beams; they're pretty awesome to spam with the Power Boost. Just stand there, maybe walk a bit, mash the B button, total annihilation of a decent portion of the enemies' health bars.
Not too fond of Death Borg Chi. I use him when I'm running out of better Death Borgs to add to my force, but I don't typically accomplish much when I do. I do, however, have to acknowledge the rapid spamming ability Death Borg Chi exhibits when facing down those curved surfaces in The Pit.
Death ICBM nukes stuff. They're nukes, so it doesn't matter that they die instantly; it's worth it. Totally worth it.
Death Bombs bomb stuff. They're just bombs, so they're not really worth the effort.
Omicron, like the Sigmas and Lambdas, is too good, so I typically only use it when I determine that I have to.
(Here is where I notice that I also occasionally refer to Death Borgs as "it." I hate contradicting myself.)
And the thing about the crappy Death Borgs (by "crappy" I mean Nu I-III, Mu, and
, as much as I hate to say it for obvious reasons, Death Eye) is that they have an obvious tier list among them; Nu II is the worst thing ever created, Nus can kill Nu IIs, Death Eyes can kill Nus and Nu IIs, Nu IIIs can (probably) kill Death Eyes, (and can definitely kill) Nus and Nu IIs, and Mus can kill all of the above... except maybe Nu III; I haven't played recently enough to remember which one's better, but when I think about it Nu III's probably the best of the five. But with a bit of skill against some incompetent opponents the better ones on the list can take down some other stuff; I've killed Zetas and Betas with a Mu, Omicrons with a Nu III (I think), and Betas with a Death Eye.
But seriously... Nu II is just horrible...
EDIT: Forgot to mention Tau. I find Tau to be about as awkward to use as Cyber Hero, only I can actually kill things with Tau.
Also unlike Cyber Hero, I actually find Tau fun to use.
