But hopefully they do end up taking our money in the form of GF2. I just hope that NRG doesn't end up as a DLC character >_>, or any other character turns into DLC for that matter lol. Ugh, I cringed at the thought of borgs being DLC. But you can bet I'll be checking every day for any news of a sequel. ;D

Ugh, I cringed at the thought of borgs being DLC. lol yeah. GF2: 300 all new borgs. The original 200? $5 a pop, $10 in Australia lol. I would...<_< I don't know. I'd be really rage and really rainbow at the same time.

... SSSweet!
I really hope they're trying to go somewhere else with this. After all, Gotcha Force is one of the most highly demanded sequels in Japan.

I had a thought. Gotcha Force 2 is the #4 demanded sequel in Japan. The reprint sold out in, uh, some really short period of time in Japan. If they decide to make Gotcha Force 2 based on this, there's a pretty good chance they'll do it in Japan.
If that's the case, I'm going to either break something, figure out how to load Japanese games on a Wii U, or break something, then figure out how to load Japanese games on a Wii U. Or just get a Japanese Wii U. I don't give a s*** how expensive it is, this is Gotcha Force 2 we're talking about.

If Gotcha Force 2 is Japan only, I will be pretty pissed.
On a slightly related tangent, I'm trying to use Google Translate to read the 2ch thread on Gotcha Force for news of a sequel. It's not working out as well as I thought it would.

good luck with the google translating!
i wouldn't mind if they put GF2 on the 3DS. then i'd be able to play gotcha EVERYWHERE.
Japan only? i guess that's what translation patches are for...? hopefully someone translates it for us lowly non-japanese

Good thing there's little to no story to this game lol, Japanese or not the core gameplay will be intact *GF2's story is a deep as Ghost Tricks, and missions are more in depth than just destroying everything on sight* :<. Importing sucks too <_<....

I thought to try that upon reading this... but I know nothing of 2ch, its layout, where to find this Gotcha Force thread, etc.

Google Translate Engrish Deciphering Powers Go! Here is the Japanese article I'm putting through Google Translate. www.famitsu.com/news/201203/02010931.html Apparently, the Gotcha Force soundtrack is also included in the bundle. It makes sense since the picture of the bundle shows the game, art booklet, and a CD. So it's 4998 yen ($63) for just the game, and 6500 yen ($80) for the game + concept art booklet + soundtrack CD. That's $17 for the concept art and soundtrack! Even though the art is the same stuff that's on their website, and you can find the Gotcha Force OST online, having physical copies would be pretty cool. In addition, it looks like they're also holding a raffle/lottery of sorts. I assume the English sites didn't mention it because on the official Capcom site, all the text regarding it is in a picture, and Google Translate doesn't work on pictures. Luckily the article I'm using gives a rundown of the campaign in text so I can copy-paste that. What I get from running it through Google Translate: My best guess going off of the picture and the translation is that they are holding a lottery for artwork drawn by the developers, which will run through March 29, at which point they will announce the 15 winners; 1 A prize, 10 B prizes, and 4 C prizes. The Grand Prize (A) is a large art commission of a requested character. The Second Prize (B) is a smaller art commission. The Third Prize (C) is "お蔵出し色紙" or "Colored Kuradashi tail". (The first page of Google image results is a bowl of noodles and soup, followed by penguins, than random stuff, some of it NSFW even with safesearch on. I just don't know.) I assume the C prize is just a small picture, no commission. What are my thoughts on this? 1.) The rereleasing of Gotcha Force could have been Capcom trying to get rid of unsold copies of lying in a warehouse. Or it could be Capcom drawing attention to an old franchise in preparation for an announcement for a sequel. By itself, you can't tell either way. 2.) The sale of the concept art booklet and soundtrack bundle is in sort of the same situation as 1. Maybe they just had a bunch of unsold copies and wanted to make as much money as they could before dumping the rest. Maybe it's an attention ploy. Both interpretations make sense and it's hard to tell which one is real. 3.) The art commision lottery seals the deal. If you forgot, the grand prize and the second place prizes are commissioned artwork, not just some old art they had lying around. In other words, they will be making new Gotcha Force art for this lottery. If they were just trying to milk Gotcha Force before they throw it away, they wouldn't go to the trouble of having the game developers drawing new stuff. The inclusion of the lottery means they're not just trying to get rid of some old stuff they had in a warehouse. So that's ruled out. But video game companies don't just randomly revive an 8 year old financial flop. They're hyping up Gotcha Force for a reason. A sequel is very likely. The big question is when. I'm guessing they're not going to announce it this month since that's when the lottery is going to go on. Maybe they'll announce news of a sequel when they announce the winners of the lottery. There's no evidence that it will, but I think any announcement about a sequel will definitely be after the lottery is over. But whenever they do announce a sequel, it'll probably be at least half a year afterwards that the game will actually come out, and even longer for it to release in NA and PAL regions, if it does at all.

^ any idea how to enter the lottery lol?
If they really did reprint it, then they're getting it ready for something. It wouldn't be a re-release on a VC (because they reprinted it, they wouldn't get hype by posting a game they just reprinted), so I think GF2 is highly likely as well.
If so, what platform can they go with? Wii is dead, 3DS screen is too small and will have KI: U as competition (but is probably their safest bet financially if it flops), and the Wii U is coming out soon. Hopefully it's Capcom's flagship onto next gen Nintendo : D, if Megaman ends up going the route of bad box art for the rest of his life.
EDIT: I think GF sold just as well in the US as it did in Japan. The fanbase in Japan is probably bigger and alive though, but if Japan gets it the US will probably at least have a limited release I think, because they'd be losing out on half of their potential sales.

If they're continuing to reprint the original, they're not going to announce the sequel anytime soon; if they did, nowhere near as many people would buy the reprints. If not, you can probably expect it within a month of the lottery. As for the actual release? Well, for reasons it'll take too long to explain I believe they've been working on it for a while, so I'm going to guess Winter 2012.
Regarding what platform: Multiplatform? NO. Wii U exclusive. 25GB discs? When the GameCube only had, like, 4GB? 6.25x the data? F*** yeah. Better yet, dual-layer it. 50GB. You know how many Borgs they could add with that kind of space?

Say, is the old official Japanese Gotcha site dead or something? Despite all the hype, nothing's been updated there That lottery sounds pretty sweet, I hope there's a way for us to enter ;D (somehow)

The form to apply is here, but the terms says it will only ship within Japan. So effectively, none of us can enter. www.e-capcom.com/gachaform/Actually, now that I look at the form, it appears I was wrong in my previous post. The A, B, and C prizes aren't grand, runner-up, honorable mention; they're actually three different lotteries and you can apply to any combination of them.
