The reason is that anyone can item spam, and if you cant counter a person who stands still and chucks BOMBS THAT ARE PART OF THE MOVE SET at you, then you really should get practicing. "Oh no, your a complete idiot Alberenza, Riku moves around while spamming-" Just stop whining. ... I should just go along with what you say now, before I cuss you all out so much that I get banned. Eh, f**k it. Might I mention you're being very hypocritical right now, telling me to stop whining when you whine more than I do. If everyone against you, maybe you should try not to be so stubborn and try to understand why we all disagree with you. Also, cussing out is a lame cop-out and never solves anything.

Have I cussed ayone out yet? I get the other side of the argument, it however is technically an item, whether it's part of his moveset or not.

You said you wanted to, so I was just saying. Anyway, I'm not trying to light more fires here, I made that last post before I saw your previous one.

This began as a reply to the PotD thread. I decided to incorporate pieces of it into the post. I know the argument here isn't about allowing items in the tournament, but the rationale behind the items issue is, I think, very important in considering this issue. The main argument against items in a competitive setting is that items are a huge random factor. They spawn in random places, at random time, and they randomly explode. They are non-skill-related; no amount of skill can force an item to spawn or not spawn. Toon Link's bombs aren't random. They always spawn in his hand when he uses down+B and they explode after a set amount of time. They don't just randomly appear, but are an attack like his other attacks. Bombs take skill, although how much skill it takes to use it and whether or not it is cheap tactic is another matter. Smash Balls are a trickier issue, and one that I'm not entirely familiar with as I don't really follow the Brawl scene. They spawn randomly, but they do take more skill than other items. I would vote for no smash balls because the random factor is pretty big, but do whatever you want. The bottom line, though, is that the person hosting the tournament makes the rules. It's preferable that the rules be to the participants' liking, but if you don't like the rules, you can always set up your own tourney. It's not like this is the One Tourney to rule them all. Riku stated that he bomb spams to piss people off. In my opinion, making people angry is a legitimate tactic, as is sandbagging. ("Sandbagging is the act of playing poorly on purpose. Most of the time, players sandbag in friendly matches to keep others from learning their style, or to be allowed into easier divisions for tournaments." From the Smash Bros Wiki.) It's a form of mindgaming and it's alright with me as a tactic. Bomb spamming as a tactic isn't bulletproof. Like any other tactic, it has counter tactics. (And those counter tactics have counter tactics as well. It's counters all the way down. the fun in gaming.) Besides, if you already know someone's playstyle and strategy, that's a pretty big advantage already.

Yep. Makes sense. Still, meta knight banning is not in official tournament rules, simply something they were considering.

Anyways, Regal, ask Drachea if she can be a definite, because we need atleast 8 brawlers, and we currently have 7.

drachea's main concern is that she doesn't know what time she's getting back from her aunt's. I told her that the tourney is being held all week, not just on Thanksgiving. This is true no?
