I truly hope you're not wasting your money on Ryu. It ticks me off that third parties leech on Smash for free advertisement when they give Nintendo absolutely nothing in return. Boycott every non-Nintendo character please. - AdminExcept for a completely new fighter unique to the rest of the cast in playstyle. I understand you may not like him, but please don't go around bashing others' interests or opinions. He's there for people who like him, and if you don't like him that's completely fine.

What Steve said. And technically, putting 3rd party characters in Sm4sh is good for both the company and Nintendo, since it helps sell both more copies of Sm4sh and more copies of the games that 3rd party characters come from. For example, let's say that a person really likes Ryu. They are more likely to buy Sm4sh now. Also, let's say that a total noob to gaming plays Sm4sh and, through that, learns about Ryu. That person is more likely to buy a Street Fighter game. Also, Megaman is 3rd party, and I love Megaman, so screw that.

They give Nintendo an extra character for their fighting game which can result in more potential sales for Nintendo. Calm down.

I guess you guys support the "Hey, thanks for your money, Nintendo fans. We will make sure to give you the midde finger yet again when we use that income to make games for every existing console but yours" practice which Capcom very much do.
You guys surprise me... :/

Whoa there, Admin. Calm down a sec. Are you forgetting about the Monster Hunter series? The newest ones have been on Nintendo consoles and handhelds. Also, Street Fighter has been on many Nintendo systems. Let us not forget Megaman, irrelevant as he is... Basically, there are plenty of good Capcom games on Nintendo systems. Chill out.

Disappointed as I am with Capcom... A fun game is a fun game. Don't let companies deter your enjoyment. A name like Nintendo or Capcom is way too ambiguous, anyway. The people behind things and working on games are different and more independent than a company name. 'Capcom' didn't make Ryu.
Really, just appreciate it. It's all for fun. A clash of gaming icons. If G-Red became playable, would you still criticize us for buying him as a DLC character?

You guys surprise me... :/ - AdminFor most people, this has nothing to even do with companies, it has to do with "This fighter seems cool, I'm gonna buy them." In addition, we have no shortage of capcom games on nintendo systems. The last several monster hunter games have been nintendo exclusive, street fighter has been on nintendo consoles a lot, a good chunk of the Resident Evil series has been on nintendo consoles, almost the entire Mega Man series (their main IP next to SF) is on nintendo systems, and let's not forget the obvious; Gotcha Force. I think you have more of a vendetta with capcom than you do all non-nintendo IPs.

Wii U and 3DS aren't the only consoles that matter.

The entire argument falls apart when you realize that every single 3rd party character that has ever been in SSB has been in a game that was on a Nintendo console.

The entire argument falls apart when you realize that every single 3rd party character that has ever been in SSB has been in a game that was on a Nintendo console. I mean to be fair, Snake was only in a remake of an old MGS for the Gamecube when Brawl came out so he hardly counts. I don't have an issue with DLC characters at all. I will say that it's kind of frustrating that buying it on Wii U doesn't automatically purchase it for your 3DS version too, but then you could argue that it would probably then be at the bundle prices anyway and would screw a lot of people with only one version over. @addy: I'm not sure where your dislike of Capcom for mistreating Nintendo consoles comes from, but I'd like to propose a counter: If it's from this generation, then the Wii U is pretty much struggling against the Xbone and PS4 and has such a different console architecture compared to the other consoles (with both a large power difference and having to account for the extra screen) that it doesn't really make sense for ANY developer (bar indies who use Unity) to develop for Wii U. If it stems from the Wii generation, then yeah, it's the same argument again, power difference, having to account for motion controls, yadda-yadda, only this time there's a larger install base, but then like hardly any of those people bought games so, in fact, there was probably less of a chance for your game to be bought on Wii than on 360/PS3. If it stems from the GC generation, then Capcom attempted to make the GC their flagship console from the start and originally planned to release 5 exclusive games for them, including Resi 4, as well as supporting it with multi-plats throughout its life. But again, s*** sales meant that that plan didn't go so well. If it's before that, then really.. I mean I think the companies are entirely different now, so I think that might be a tad petty. Honestly, I'm not trying to be a Capcom fanboy purely because, well, I'm not, but I don't think that Ryu should be free. Hell if I were to guess, I wouldn't be surprised if none of the money it made went to Capcom. ... Anyway, back to lurking :P

So he might as well be like Little Mac.

My brother got Ryu, and I think Ryu's a really fun character to play as Very all-around with really good moves, with his only downside being his slow speed. Shoryuken is so satisfying to pull off, too

He is coming from a guy who plays Greninja But you're right he's not Ganondorf slow, but he's just above it, and nowhere near Little Mac and Falcon fast. Oh also Admin is right about Capcom being a terrible company when it comes to catering to fans, despite having some of the most well-loved series ever. It's like they enjoy having one-hit wonders or something. But yeah at the same time smash is smash, and Ryu is one heck of a cool character

Also, Capcom really isn't that bad.

Hello everyone, since we have difficulty creating rooms for Smash for up to fight I thought I would try something new with the newly released Tourney Mode. Thus I created the first monthly GFF Smash Tournament. From August 1st 12 am PST to August 31st 11:50 pm PST I am hosing a tournament that whoever has the most points, earned by playing matches, by the end of the month wins. Here are details
Match Rules: 2 stock/ 7 min/ Sudden Death: On No items Mii Fighters can be used Custom Fighters can be used.
If any of these rules seem unacceptable let me know. And if people haven't joined the tourney yet I will probably recreate the tourney to satisfy anyone.
The Tourney name is: Gotcha Force Fan The Tourney ID is: 07353004475871 To enter the tourney you need to know the password which is: GRed.
I hope that this experiment can work in order to promote people to play more with each other. Have fun!
