That is the question, after all.

I believe that they created themselves. Like, how humans invented cars. so some normal ninja scientists created the first machine borg and infused it with GF energy, which would be what makes them living, and made more.
My idea is implemented into a new threat in a way.

The Proto Machine Borgs are called the ancestors of the transformable ones. I believe that means they are capable of reproduction. That would pretty much mean that the Proto Machine Borgs designed the others. But who designed the Proto Machine Borgs? As this train of thought continues, it eventually amounts to "What was the first life-form on Mega Borg?" Which then leads to "Is there a God of the universe of Gotcha?" And the answer to that is yes, Capcom is. I could keep going.

So eventually the standard form of life on mega borg would evolve and gain capabilities of making artificial life, like how humans invented machines. But God? yeah we cant answer that as much as we can answer our own existence. But, God and the creation of the universe and life will be touched upon in origins. What am I saying, it is the basis of most of the plot.

What am I saying, it is the basis of most of the plot. So the question basically turns into "Were they artificially created or were they born through, uh, reproduction?" If they were artificially made, then the answer would be whatever other Borgs made them. If not, you end up endlessly climbing up the family tree all the way to the top, then jumping upward. I suppose the word "ancestor" could be interpreted in either way. It could mean the Protos are the great-great-grandfathers of the transformers or something like that. Or it could mean they were earlier models that became deprecated by the production of the transformable Machine Borgs. Proto King being "related to the Victory King," on the other hand, may not work in both contexts. And the fact that "Proto Eagle shares much of his DNA with Eagle Robot" only really has one interpretation.

You do know that the Machine Borgs are fully-cybernetic, right? and the thing about Proto Eagle sharing much of his DNA with Eagle Robot, maybe there is a form of artificial DNA created for Machine Borgs.

well, yeah. I assume the protos originally founded the corps, then created improved versions of themselves. Or, a 'living' borg found the corps upon the proto's creation then improved upon them. I'm willing to believe that after the initial machine borg models, they started building or modifying themselves. After all, the strongest machine borgs are simply coloured in versions of the protos. And as for DNA, I immagine they all share very similar DNA. but they only decided to mention it with proto egale and egale robot.
