Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but... Ever notice how some partner Borg namesakes are really easy to figure out, while others are kind of obscure and confusing?
I was hoping to use this thread to identify all of the name origins for each of the Gotcha Force's partner Borgs. Think we can make it complete?
1. G Red: Presumably Getter Robo, considering the presence of a Shin G Red and G Black variant.
2. Sasuke: Either Sarutobi Sasuke (Ninja of Japanese folklore) or Kouzuki Sasuke (The historical ninja for whom Sarutobi Sasuke was most likely named in the first place)
3. Nao: Unclear. Searches tend to mostly yield actresses who fell into nurse porn, but I doubt the likelihood of their candidacy.
4. Isaac: Almost certainly Isaac Asimov, author of "I, Robot." Capcom has used Asimov's three laws of robotics previously in the Mega Man series.
5. Vlad: Vlad the Impaler (Dracula), a Wallachian prince whose name became the inspiration for the fictional vampire Count Dracula.
6. Kei: Not sure, but beginning to suspect Dirty Pair's hotblooded agent of the same name.
7. Leopard: Probably Leopard 1, a West German main battle tank.
8. Musashi: Without a doubt Miyamoto Musashi, Japanese swordsman, prominent folklore figure, feudal Japanese version of Chuck Norris.
9. Shijima: Can't figure this one out. There's a character in Ninja Scroll with the same name who apparently fights with a mechanical gauntlet, but I'm not sure if our Shijima is named for him, or if perhaps this Shijima is named for an actual folklore figure.
10. Garuda:Mythical bird or bird-man appearing in both Hindu and Buddhist mythologies.
11. Jack: Call me crazy, but I really think this is a mistranslation of Jacques (both are likely written the same in Japanese), as in Jacques Cousteau, popular marine biologist and co-developer of the Aqua-Lung scuba.
12. Death Arc: Can't be sure. I'd like to think that "Arc" is a mistranslation of "Ark," but that could still refer to positively any ark. The Mega Man series does feature a large flying warship called the Death Rogumer, and Capcom does love referencing their games in Gotcha Force, but whatever.
13. Billy: Surely this is William H. Bonney, better known as Billy the Kid, American frontier outlaw and folklore figure.
14. Neo G Red: Shin G Red in Japan, unless I'm mistaken. A reference to Shin Getter Robo.

for Kei, I'm gonna go on a limb and say she's named after the school. Kei is part of the Intelligence Bureau (according to the game), right?
and there's a LOT of schools with abbreviation K.E.I. There's also a Japanese school called kei school.
So, maybe it's that?

I'm not so sure about that. For one thing, "Intelligence Bureau" refers to an agency more akin to the CIA than to an educational facility (supported by Kei and Usagi's desire to join the Secret Service).. Plus, all of the borgs thus far have been named for people or singular things rather than places.
It seems more likely that she would be named for something secret agent related...
Though, their love of sports and Kei's baseball cap might hint toward something related to athletics instead.
Edited to avoid double-posting:
I did some searching for athletes named Kei and didn't find anything too impressive. However, I'm starting to think Kei might be a reference to Dirty Pair, a classic anime/manga centered around a futuristic criminal investigations unit. The tomboyish lead character bears the same name, and G Red's name forces us to accept the legitimacy of anime as a name source, this seems more likely than anything else..

Nobody else has any ideas? I can't be the only one who's wondered about this...

I think you're over-thinking Death Arc. Arc=Ark=Big ship. Death=self-explanatory, since Tama was originally a Death Commander. Death Arc=Big ship of the Death Force? Yep.

9. Shijima: Can't figure this one out. There's a character in Ninja Scroll with the same name who apparently fights with a mechanical gauntlet, but I'm not sure if our Shijima is named for him, or if perhaps this Shijima is named for an actual folklore figure. Wasn't Shijima a buddhist philosophy of stillness, silence, and oneness? Not entirely sure, but that seems like it could be the origin of the name. Edit (for extra information) Been looking at Nao, and found a few things that look promising. Nao is a common japanese name that, depending on the characters used, can mean "honest" or "esteem". It is generally a feminine name, though occasionally given to males as well. It is also said to be the shortened version of other japanese names, like Naoko, Naomi, and Naoto, which can also be written to include honesty and esteem. (i.e. Naoko (尚子, "esteem, child") and Naoto (直人, "honesty, person"). Also, though I has nothing to do with the origin of the name, I thought it interesting that the character in MircoVolts with the, and I quote, "approachable appearance" is named Naomi. Looking for the exact same characters as the japanese version of Nao's name, I've found that Nao shares a spelling with the drummer and band leader of the visual kei band Alice Nine. Again, nothing to do with the origin of the name, but I though it might be interesting to point out.

Looking around on the Japanese wiki, here's what I think they say.
Isaac 1) Isaac Asimov, sci-fi writer 2) Isaac Newton, scientist 3) From the video game "メタルソルジャーアイザック" "Metal Soldier Isaac", a "タイトーの縦STG" "vertical shooting game". 4) Isaac the Razor, from the anime "Galaxy Cyclone Braiger" 5) Dr. Isaac Gilmore from the anime "Cyborg 009" 6) Might be associated with the HONDA ASIMO robot. ASIMO is similar to Asimov, whose first name was Isaac. Incidentally, the similarity of the HONDA ASIMO to Asimov is just a coincidence. 7) Something about advanced search operations of Isaac.
Vlad 1) Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia. Also known as Vlad the Impaler and Count Dracula. 2) His sword "Shadowbringer" might come from the the sword "Stormbringer" from the "Elric Saga" fantasy novel.
Garuda 1) The bird from Hindu mythology. 2) May be based off of "Galuda" from "Power Stone"
Sasuke 1) Sarutobi Sasuke 2) Sampei Shirato's ninja manga "Sasuke"
Still working through the rest.

G Red (There doesn't seem to be any mention of Getter Robo, and they never mention where his name comes from. Maybe it was just super obvious that they didn't feel it was necessary to say it.) 1) Resembles Magne Arthur, from the Magne Power Microman toys. 2) Something about Juohmaru's melee attacks from the anime Plawres Sanshiro. 3) The G Crash resembles Shining Finger from G Gundam. 4) The G Crash probably got its name from the Gold Crash in the anime Golden Warrior Gold Lightan
Kei 1) "K" might be her code name since she has the letter "K" on her outift. 2) Kei from Dirty Pair. 3) It might be a pun on "軽快の軽 (ケイ)" "Keikai no kei (Kei)" 4) The hero of "バトルガール" "Battlegirl" (ASIN:B00005GE7B) was called "霧島K子" "Child Kirishima K".
Shijima 1) Sampei Shirato's manga "Shijima" 2) Shijima means "silence". (I think it's the philosophy gx1000 mentioned.)
Jack 1) Diver Jacques Mayol 2) Developer of the Aqua-Lung, Jacques-Yves Cousteau
Nao 1) May be a pun on "治す" "Naosu" which means "cure" 2) May be based off of the fighting nurse Lili in the anime Rainbow Sentai Robin.
Billy 1) Western outlaw, Billy the Kid 2) In the Capcom game "Gun.Smoke," the hero Billy carried two revolvers. 3) May be taken from Billy Coen in the Capcom game "Resident Evil 0"
Musashi 1) Miyamoto Musashi, famous swordsman 2) Mask seems influenced by SD Sengokuden or Plamo Kyoshiro
Leopard 1) The German Leopard tank. 2) The leopard is a symbol of courage and speed. 3) Leopardon from the manga/anime "Kinnikuman" 4) The giant robot Leopardon from the live-action series "Spider-Man Toei"
Death Arc 1) Either the Ark of the Tabernacle or Noah's Ark. 2) The bridge is similar to Musai-class Light Cruiser from Gundam(?).

Nao: I'm guessing this is an awful pun taken too far. The first mission where we meet Mana is title "Save Mana's Partner Nao!". As in, save Mana's partner NOW. Sadly not the most awesome backstory, but seems likely enough.
*i can't tell if the above conjecture is serious of half-hearted.
Also, Death Arc is likely just Death Ark, but spelled wrong. It's a flying ark (well, ship, but close enough), and it kills things. Nuff' said.
