I found this new and pretty unknown band "Treebeard". They catch that pre-myspace era Post-Hardcore/Emo vibe pretty well and add some Post-Rock elements to it. A dreamier Circa Survive if you will.

Glitchhh seems to not have stuck around after all... As far as 10 days goes, at least.
Here's the opening song from Full Metal Panic!, Tomorrow. Such a nice song... And the anime is already my favorite mech series by far, even though I'm only halfway into the 'season 1.5' comedy spinoff (which is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen...). Also, I love the simplicity of the OP video, it fits so well with the song.

I've been thinking of watching fullmetal panic... I think I know the general presence, seems like it could be a laugh. Probably wouldn't put it high unless it has something I'm not seeing... not to mention I'm not a fan of that theme, sorry.
Too busy watching this;
I can't wait to pound it to dust in a review. It's so mean spirited, no likeable characters means I don't route for everyone, it's just unplesent. Then again, I'm near the end and it appears to be getting better... only because they've completely forgotten that their main character is a NEET who treats his mother with absolutely no respect, and that the mother herself is a horrible human being for you find out she did around episode 3 or 4... even if she did have to deal with an out right despicable main character. I only really feel sorry for the love interest, but the hate she gets from other characters is totally undeserved and she is so heavily sexualised that the whole point of her character comes across as very disingenuous... unless that was the point... anyway, to anyone interested they can have a look at this for themselves... it is improving... only 12 episodes... and I like the opening song...
I've been listening to this though.
Now THIS is epic! Makes me want to play the game despite my overall dislike of the final fantasy series...

The opening to Btooom! makes it seem pretty interesting... But the way you described it I think it's almost guaranteed I wouldn't like it. Like with Full Metal Panic!, and Busou Renkin... I prefer light-hearted anime with likable characters, and it seems you like more realistic characters. But at any rate... Didn't I post that Dissidia song before? Or maybe I almost did... Or someone else did... Or no one. But yeah, God in Fire is an amazing song. It's also amazing under the atmosphere of the final battle of Dissidia Duodecim. Although, God in Fire is like a two-part song. In the game, the battle starts with the Cantata Mortis part playing, which breaks into God in Fire if you happen to live long enough. This is the original: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPydLlQ4olsAnd this song is also good, the theme of the final boss from the first Dissidia. It's a very similar battle, as it's basically a different form of the same final boss in the games. But this one has a much more modern punk/dark rock feel to it. It also progresses from eerie to more intense rock, like God in Fire.

What happened to this thread? It's like it just suddenly died for two weeks, came back to life for three posts, then died again for almost three weeks.
Anyway, admittedly I don't typically pay much attention to this thread, but noticing all this Dissidia getting dropped in here I do feel I should comment that I like the concentration of metal-ish-type stuff in the past couple posts. Now all this thread needs is some additional metal-ish-type subgenres. And Contra.

I think I bumped this topic a bit every now and then which led it to be a somewhat active topic, but eventually I broke off into my own topic since I was posting here so much, but then that's also been kinda dead for a while since I've been kinda half-dead around here recently. Well, Hard Corps was a game that initially interested me a lot due to how much it reminds me of Combat Heaven, but I was disappointed at how it seems the pace is actually strangely sluggish... I really do like the music, though, and all the designs. Sounds somewhat like Blazblue and the like. To share something, though... I can't get this song out of my head recently. It's hard to compare something to Gurren Lagann, and I wouldn't say it's quite as good, but Aquarion EVOL never ceases to amaze me with some very, very similar themes with never giving up, mechs combining, and being powered by emotions and capable of insane giga-drill-breaker type attacks at an emotional climax... Almost every episode has an insanely awesome moment, it doesn't hold back at all.

Not that I'm saying I don't want to watch it myself but isn't Aquareon that series, where fighting in the mecha has parralels to the pilots having reactions like their having sex? Anyway, I myself have been interested in a few things lately so sorry if I post multiple links First off is Touhou, including this remix by this group called IOSYS that somehow turned one of the character's themes into a Japanese rap song. I also have been interested in Metal Gear Rising Revengence music even though I don't own the game myself. Here is my favorite track, made even more awesome in the context. Also this might not be mecha anime but I have been into Super Robot Wars Original Generation lately so I have had a few awesome themes I love listening to. Even though I'm playing the GBA version I'm linking the remade songs. I'm sure anyone who's played the Original Generations games know who this theme belongs to and why it usually means "you're screwed". This theme also convey's the same feeling. On a more optimistic side of things, here is the theme of my favorite character of the OG games, Masaki Andoh.

Aquarion EVOL does have something like what you mentioned, but it really only happens in passing. The mechs are formed by combining three fighter ships, and it's usually accompanied by short 'magical transformation' scenes for each character (unclothed, glowing body, but nothing is actually shown), and they say lines about feeling intense emotions or feeling good, so it's rather ambiguous. Though, I can't deny the anime has a lot of fanservice, but it's generally innocent and in absurdly funny ways. Actually, I hate fanservice, but I have to admit, Aquarion for the most part managed to pull it all off in surprisingly amusing and awesome ways, EVOL as a whole was over-the-top and entertaining.
Anyway, pretty cool Touhou song. And I don't have Metal Gear Rising either, but I think it has an amazing soundtrack. Also love SRW and all of its songs and remixes. I've never actually played a SRW game, though... But I should probably get around to playing the translated ones. I just started watching Rinne no Lagrange, but I plan to watch SRW The Inspector next.
And here's a long video, but it's pretty awesome with some of SRW's original vocal songs.

I just started watching Rinne no Lagrange, but I plan to watch SRW The Inspector next. I'm surprised you haven't played any one the games considering you used to have the Alteisen as your avatar. Anyway the games are fun, and the translated ones are the Original Generation games for the GBA (the previously mentioned Alteisen is in them). There's also a few fan translations for Super Robot Wars 3 (although I don't recommend it since it's one of the first and thus unpolished, Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden (which is considered by many to be one of the best SRW games), and Super Robot Wars J (a GBA game which doesn't have quite as big of a cast but it does feature Full Metal Panic!). PM me if you want the links to the fan translations. Anyway I have a couple more videos. One of them is a collection of Touhou remixes I found of Marisa Kirisame's Themes. Also this is similar to the music video posted above but a couple of the songs are different and it uses footage form Super Robot Wars Alpha 3.

I've been playing the most recent Touhou 13.5, the fighting games (10.5 and 12.3) are the only real experience I have with Touhou, despite how much I like shmups... But I loved the combination of shmup + fighting so much that I never turned to play one of the others, I guess. Well, Hopeless Masquerade, 13.5, just got a recent trial release with netplay. I was skeptical at first, since it was really different, but the aerial combat and graphics work so great. Can't wait for the full game... But in the meantime I'll just hope I'll find someone to play Hisoutensoku with some day. Anyway, this is one of my favorite Touhou remixes. It's more of a really calm song for the first five minutes, and then picks up: I also started SRW J yesterday. It's been pretty fun, I like how it's like SRT OG Saga: Endless Frontier (one of the best RPGs I've played), with how everyone's 'overpowered', with ridiculously good skills and abilities for low costs. Of course, the game's been super easy so far, but I'm expecting it to become overpowered vs. overpowered like OG Saga. And it also seems like a really long game... 51 missions, and around 6-7 hours in I just completed the 3rd.

I have only gotten to the point where the Gundam SEED plot starts (mission 15?) before I stopped playing because my last computer broke (will probably go back to it once I'm done with the current SRW games I am playing). But yeah, the portable games are usually the easiest. Still doesn't mean the game won't kick your ass during the later levels though (Gauron is a nasty example, I've heard). Also I will probably try out the trial for the new Touhou game later. I don't want to play the full game until there is an English fan translation of it. Also this is probably one of my favorite anime themes of all time. Last Impression, from the anime movie, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.

And Gundam SEED starts at like mission 6, lol... I just finished the second SEED mission. The missions take a long time, and there's tons of dialogue in between. Not complaining, but it's certainly one heck of a long game, and I've been playing too many other games recently. I actually rolled back and found way into a little community that plays Touhou Hisoutensoku (the most recent compete fighter with an English patch), so I've been playing that online a lot. And Warframe. I usually play a mission of SRW J every night, which is always at like 2am, then the mission finishes at like 4am >_>;. Well, last night I found a pretty amazing arrange of Cirno's theme: It's one of my favorite Touhou songs... Just so catchy.

Speaking of Touhou. Since Hopeless Masquerade got released recently, I feel it is appropriate to share the theme of the new character, Hata no Kokoro.

Wow only just found this anime today and already I love it and this opening. This opening while metaphorical is nothing like the lighthearted black comedy filled romp that the show is... and that in itself is pretty funny, really.
