In the current generation of comic book artists/writers, it is now more difficult than ever to be original. For instance, when you see newly developed characters and stories being released your fascinated yet the whole set up just seems....well familiar. What are your opinions upon the matter?

In my opinion super heroes are some of the hardest material to write on. They are outlandish by nature and yet demand a serious portrayal. Because of that there are only so many successful styles, ways, and lights that work for super heroes. A lot of that masks the originality from hero to hero and it gives everything a layer of similarity.

that and there's only so far you can go with a story that has to keep some sort of status quo so what usually happens is the writer takes the story in a bold new direction for a bit before completely retconning it all back to the usual and the cycle repeats endlessly. This is usually most obvious when they kill off a super hero entirely only to bring him back after a while so the whole thing feels like it was just done for shock value.

Like with Superman! He has died, god, what, a dozen times already. And I mean just legit deaths, I am not even talking about fake outs.

especially with super man, the comic book industries are preparing the same meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner....the only difference between the meals is they add a pinch of salt or put less pepper...While I am a big fan of both Marvel and Dc, It feels like they are just competing with one another using their top characters rather than coming up with fresh and exciting concepts...

As much as I hate to say it, it works though.
