Let’s say that Capcom does make a new Gotcha Force, it gets really good reviews, is played by millions of people and Gotcha Force becomes famous as a great game.
But this new game isn’t like the original Gotcha Force.
Say they get rid of all the characters, get rid of all the borgs, and practically make a new game nothing like what we have now. Basically, instead of making a sequel, they make an unrelated game under the Gotcha Force name.
Would you want this game to be made?
Would you rather have a Gotcha Force 2 be made that barely resembling the first game, but has a large amount of fans? Or have the fan base stay where it is and keep the original Gotcha Force?

I said maybe... On one hand, I wouldn't be getting what I want (a sequel). On the other hand, it would bring attention back to the original...

NO! that would defeat the whole purpose of making a new one. If you get rid of the original system, you cannot call it by "same name 2" as it is a completely different game. Even if they just rereleased it with some new features(like many are doing) that would be fine by me.

Not particularly...It would pretty much just be a totally different game, and it might not even make the original one get more attention. A barely-resembling sequel would probably feel very detached from the original game. OFF-TOPIC: Welcome to GFF ;D

If it's a good game and brings positive attention to Gotcha Force 1, then sure. If it brings negative attention to Gotcha Force 1, then I would rather it be released under a different name, but still released.
After all, a good game is a good game, and I don't see why one shouldn't be made. It's when it tarnishes Gotcha Force's name that I see a problem.
So maybe.

If they still had the idea of toy sized robots that battle as a force, but canned the way you played the last game, they could still call it "Gotcha Force 2". Or so I would think....

I don't see how it's "Gotcha Force 2" if it isn't like the original. It's like taking a bag of Doritos, replacing the chips with onion rings, and selling it as a bag of Doritos.
As such, no.

i wouldn't mind if you took all of the same characters, and gave a whole new play style to it: all i really care about are the memories of playing with certain characters. as long as it's still an fighting game, though ;D
but if you're going to get rid of the old borgs, then the gameplay had better be good, and somewhat similar to gotcha force. like, if they had cooler borgs and better controls, i'd be up for it
