I love megaton robot now. At first I couldn't use his x at all but now I've figured it out, I'm owning borgs left, right and centre. I don't realy understand the point of Megaton Robot. Is he really that good? Actually he destroys Fortresses even in Play 8

I don't realy understand the point of Megaton Robot. Is he really that good? Actually he destroys Fortresses even in Play 8 Elaborate please. Megaton Robot has the super strong Megaton Hammer. Megaton Robot is also slow as Barlw heck. One hit by a fortress' beam and he is sent across the stage. There is no way for him to get close enough to a fortress to actually throw Megaton Hammer. This leaves him with two options: melee or barlw pellet shot. Melee is near impossible against a fortress and is even more improbable with Megaton Robot. Which means he's left with pellet shot, which isn't that great. Now, let's assume that he does get close enough to throw it. He throws it once, it connects, Fortress loses 1/50 (?) of his HP. Now, Megaton Robot must pick up his head and repeat 50 times. I'm pretty confident that he will be shot before he reaches his head. Again, one hit by a fortress' beam and he is sent across the stage. Megaton Robot must now go across the stage to pick up his head and he will most likely be shot before he reaches his head. Where is this fortress defeating power?

When i fight Sirius i don't have to throw Megaton Robots head 50 times. Sirius loses more then 1/50th of its HP also i get Special up fairly quickly with its other shots. Then the head deals out massive damage.

How come no-one seems to be able to dodge with megaton robot except me?
I don't actually find him that slow and I do fine with his speed, his x is ace and, once you get to know how to use it correctly along with his b shots he becomes the mobile fortress of doom.

I can dodge with him but i tend to play with a messed up, ancient Gamecube control pad to make the game more challenging. I'll be pressing buttons but the Borg will just stand there and take hits. Sometimes it funny and sometimes itd annoying.

I shall describe my thoughts with an over-used Smash meme.
I was just wondering why Ganondorf Megaton Robot is in the very middle of the tiers. Before I get into what I mean, allow me to first put out there that I have been playing for years, and I have watched MANY videos of the tournament masters.
My brother and I found out, through years of play, literally EVERY advanced technique in the game, except the 20th Force Glitch, which we stumbled upon, but wrote off as simply hilarious. I was surprised to find that all the wacky observations we have encountered and adapted are actually defined in the glossary in the sticky topic above! Three of the particularly surprising terms that I could not believe had been widely known and utilized were the Alternate Color Borgs (I just thought I had a glitchy game) and that effect where moving while in the air results in an air dash (I cannot remember what it was called), and the Hover.
Now, I have been using Megaton Robot lately, and he cannot seem to beat me. We think we know why, and we think it puts Megaton at the top of the tiers. I will be brief. Megaton has his X Attack. We call it 'The Hammer.' It has that special hitbox like a sword, hence it goes right through anything except an attack with that same type of hitbox. It does huge amounts of damage, is relatively fast executing, has basically instant recovery, and is quite massive, killing at rather high HP.
If he misses, he can just do his B Shot if the opponent tries to retaliate, or dash/jump. I am telling you, Megaton Robot is a crazy meat mountain who crushes bones with many attacks doing tons of damage, survives to insane damages thanks to his weight, and has ridiculous horizontal recovery (Double Jump, Ganondorf Kick Down B, ANOTHER Double Jump, ARE YOU SERIOUS, Up B).
Next, check his dash. It goes like half screen. It makes him rather fast, nearly eliminating his speed problem on the ground, and a great character when it comes to the defensive game. It pretty much eliminates the need for his air dash, which, with Megaton Robot, who needs to do most of his attacking from the ground, is pretty much useless already unless you are looking to air attack. Air attacks, however, in my opinion, is also a bad idea, because, in the time and damage it takes you to actually land an aerial, you could have just used The Hammer and killed you opponent by then.
Even though he has to fight mostly on the ground, 2 of his 3 ground attacks are pretty fast, and are quite massive. A major advantage he has is that nearly all his attacks move the opponent considerably, and can topple him from full HP, so his opponent gets little to no counterattack opportunity.
The only explanation I can find for why he is low on the tiers is that no one has used him seriously. I think he really keeps up, if not tops, the top tier characters.
I really do not like to simply shoot my mouth, and I am not one who thinks it right to shower a character in encomium, and never actually prove anything. Is there online for this somewhere, or is that simply wishful thinking? If not, please do not yell at me and stuff until you at least check out The Hammer. Goes right through projectiles, goes right through attacks, goes right through faces. Please just give Megaton Robot another shot and tell me what you thnk.
Final Comment: People have a tendency to think that posts from newcomers to a board but veterans of its respective game are saying they are better than everyone else, regardles of what the post actually says. Please note that I did not say 'I am better than you' or 'Megaton Robot is better than Neo G Red.' I said, essentially: 'Megaton Robot seems to be great. These are his strengths. He may top Neo G Red. Check him out and see if you agree.' I will say, however, that I am a full master of Megaton Robot.
Please give Megaton Robot a second look before responding so you know where I am coming from! [/Wall of text]
Seriously though, ignore what I said about Megaton Robot being useless. His air kick can simple combo provided you get close enough, and it's really strong, as expected from a machine borg. Megaton Hammer is beast. With Power Burst you can leave Hammers all over the place so that you don't have to travel far to pick one up and it makes Hammer extremely strong, 1-hit KOing borgs, or at least knocking a considerable chunk out of their HP. Next, I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but Megaton Robot's defense is good. 380 HP + Semi-Super Armor = About as good as it gets His B shot is nothing special, but it hitstuns the enemy enough so that you can Megaton Hammer it or go up and melee it.
I really did not realize Megaton Robot's potential until I picked it up today and beat force after force of borgs, including a R/S Knight combination.
EDIT: Tao Master is pretty good, too. He loses no height with his air dash and his X chases down the enemy. With proper timing, he can win whole battles single-handedly.
And all at 300 cost.

My Megaton is still lv. 1, methink. Maybe I should give him a go to see if he can really hold his ground.

I never really seriously used Megaton Robot except to throw his explosive of a head around...Maybe if I ever get on another Gotcha playing craze I'll try him out.

I got a crystal Megaton Robot which I used a lot before my memory card died. It was wierd-looking because the head wasn't crystal and you could always see the whole thing.

Well, I can't say I found Megaton very effective at all VS fortresses. Antares obliterated him.

I've gotta say, Beam Samurai is way more fun than I remember him being in my last save file. I spent a little while replaying missions for the elite borgs and he's my favorite one besides Beam Gunner. The thing's fast, has decent HP, and good range on its melee attack. And it does ridiculous damage when you charge up its sword.
Also, the attack style bears a striking resemblance to another character I'm fond of. Not sure why, but whenever I play as Beam Samurai, I start yelling out stuff like "I am the sword that cleaves evil! CHESTO!"

I really like Billy, at the moment. Which is kinda annoying, because he's already lv. 9...

Omicron is good, but not much fun to play as; Victory King and Eagle Jet are the opposite. Victory King is probably one of my favorite borgs now that I've gotten better with his melees. And Eagle Jet? Eagle Jet is the best idea ever. A plane with a melee attack is even manlier than a Gatling Jet would be. Eagle Jet's incredibly fast and is great for sweeping out weak borgs with its powerful lasers and diving in to use the swords when they get too close for comfort. It doesn't do very well against stronger borgs like Killer Girl and Cyber Ninja though. Or atleast more than one of them at a time.
Either way, these two are definitely part of my favorites list now.

Slow Valkyrie is good, but battles with her take too long.

I'm currently burning the field with my Flame Ninja. With Mana by my side, it's BBQ time.
