Considering live shows of every shapes and sizes are taking over instead of actual cartoons on various cartoon channels is proof that they're highly popular in todays audience.
Since you members are that audience, how do like them? Are they so much better than actual cartoons in your opinion?

Animation is better than live action for the majority of programmes on "kids' TV" because they appeal to a much wider audience. I can happily sit down and watch all of Avatar: The Last Airbender but the framing show, or the other live action programmes... ugh, I can't do them at all, despite the fact they're aimed at exactly the same age group.

Most of the stuff on TV is crap, especially nowadays. Back when I was a kid we had things like Dexter's Lab and Toonami. Further back they had classics like Voltron, Transformer, He-Man, Thunder Cats, etc. Nowadays... Johnny Test? iCarly? Are you kidding me? Most of the drivel on TV today is watered down paste for the masses to waste their time on. And it works... The live action shows would be bearable if the writing were competent and the acting was at least bad. I can stand bad. In some cases, I even like bad acting. Like in B movies. However the acting on the live action TV shows on cartoon channels is worse that bad. It is awful, terrible even.

Johnny Test is...um...lame. I mean, the show's about a boy (who wants to live fast) and his genetically-engineered talking dog who gets into all sorts of crazy antics. Plus, it has an uber-lame parody of Pokemon called "Tinymon"! Yecch! NO TASTE AT ALL!

I agree. It is really poorly thought out. The few neat idea's it has (mostly super hero ones, but maybe that is just me) are poorly executed. It is there to appeal the all of the ADD like aspects of small children. Just... the random, excessive, pointless, wasted energy.
My little brother watches it often. Even though he knows that if I catch him doing so an argument will start about how he likes it and I think it makes him stupider just by watching it. This summer... Digimon.

What? Is there gonna be a new Digimon show coming up in Summer of '11? Or did he watch it of Summer of this year?

iunno about Johnny Test, because on Cartoon Network they have stuff that is MUSH worse. when i looked at Cartoon network after a couple of years i saw stuff like Flapjack and stuff like that, and the art really put me off. the only show i liked was Total Drama Island and the spinoffs, and then that ended. of course, anything on TV now is bad, so i watch anime on the computer ;D
but i do miss the old school stuff. sigh... Teen Titans... good times...
but of course I think live-action shows are worse when they are on cartoon channels. it kind of defeats the point when you're wanted to see cartoons, because you can do a lot more when you animate things, like something dropping off the ten-story building, or the guy with the jet pack. i just looks so much better...

You are the opposite of me. I looked at Flapjacks writing instead of its art. I found the stories endearing. I despise the Total Drama stuff (and am a fan of survivor and like parodies) I agree with you about how animating something allows one to do more with it. That way you don't have to build a set of a ruined castle or render one in 3D, you just draw it.

I guess I should also exclude Adult Swim as well mostly because it's one of the few stations that still show anime.

Cartoon Network is a corpse. Some realize it, some are in denial, and some can't tell since it still retains some semblance of life. However, it is dead. It died with Toonami. R.I.P. Toonami R.I.P. Tom Attachments:
