I like how his glasses reflects the light in his victory pose.

I like how he's a midget compared to everyone else, save Met, Tama, and Kotaro.

Tsutomu's thread has less replies than Kotaro's? Kotaro?!
This needs to be fixed.

I have Tsutomu as partner from time to time. He's actually quite good, especially while using tanks.

You're in the middle of a war
ninjas all over the place
they are overwhelming you with their speed and agility
your hope is fading
then suddenly
you hear a whistle falling from the sky as a plane flies by
and a wave of explosions follow it
decimating all that opposed you
Tsutomu appears by your side, and while adjusting his glasses says:
"Just. Be. Cool."
[01.28.10 Edit:] I put 'your' instead of 'their' speed.

Something about him not relishing his victories if he doesn't do well enough to support you makes me smile.

Tsutomu's a pretty cool guy overall. He's small, nerdy, and a bit of a stick in the mud, but probably the most responsible GF commander, and fairly strong in combat, so me makes a good partner.
Nonetheless, it's hard to get over the fact that he's more of a stock character than anything else. Take any colorful, youth-oriented game/show about a team of child heroes, and you can be sure there's a recycled "midget genius" archetype joining the main cast. What's worse, while most of these "little Einsteins" have the capacity to develop as characters (typically having to overcome the inferiority complex that comes with being the least imposing hero), Tsutomu really never changes at all.
He appears as the level-headed, serious smart kid who's still willing to fight, and remains as such throughout the entire story, never even really having any significant interactions with other characters. He at least takes the spotlight once or twice as your loyal steed, but there's still no real focus on his personality. In fact, while it's implied that he's the "smart kid," he never really uses his head in a significant way.
He's really just a tag-along with no purpose other than to "be the nerd," and while that's only slightly less than most other characters, almost everybody else tends to do -something- at least remotely plot-related.

In Advanced Wars tanks win battles. In Gotcha Force that same strategy appears to be applicable. I just wonder what this plan is that he always refers to...
