Do any of you look through very old topics on here? Topics that might be on like the 3rd page of a forum?
I just thought about it and i have actually never ever done it. I always just look at page 1. But i shall change that today i think. Maybe I'll be able to bring back a discussion or 2...

I look at 'em all the time. I like (to a degree) dusting off old memories.

There's actually a rule on a forum that I go on that states if the topic hasn't been posted on in a month then it's pretty much dead. Only the OP can revive it if their "reviving" post is in any way relevant.
But since that's a different forum I know the rules can be pretty different.

That is a pretty good thing if people can remake V 2.0 topics or whatever. It would keep the discussion fresh for the new people and they wont have to look through old topics or make mistakes (By posting topics that already exist)

I like poking around at older stuff every now and then, but not for the sake of reviving.

Personally, I like it when people use already existing threads (not just talking about GFF but everywhere else too), because if a thread is there, with a clear as day topic title, why not (be allowed to) post?
A forum can get members at any time so why should a topic made by person A be ignored if person B, who signed up months after person A, wishes to make a statement in said topic.
For places with an ginormous amount of traffic, like say GameFAQs, posting new, similar threads are more necessary though seeing as topics are actually automatically locked after a certain time, but you'll probably end up being scolded by members who are obsessive with the Search function. I hate those people over there.
For smaller places like this one, I see little to no reason to make dual topics. I don't know about everyone else, but I certainly would not like having 20 "Which is your favorite Borg" threads on the first page in the Borg section.

My idea would be to make a new topic when an old but popular topic is on page 6 or something. So if one guy remade it, it would be on page one so there'd be no need for others to make a topic. Also if you were feeling up for it, you could delete very very old topics to stop the forum filling up with history (Although i do like being able to go back to old topics)

I look through old topics once in a while but I hate reading my old posts so then I stop. ;D
I think of the 10 day or however long dead period just as an indicator that discussion has ceased. You should keep in mind when posting that if no one has replied in a while then people have lost interest, but that doesn't mean you should be forbidden from posting.

What my point is, theres new guys on here that would probably be interested in our old topics, but they don't like to look through old pages. So they might make double topics by accident. What if they do that? I take it remakes are allowed after time yus?

If a quick search is too much, and the thread in question hasn't been posted in for ages, a new thread by a new member could pass.
Veteran members should use old threads before making a new one though.

Reviving old topics? I just did! ;D
Actually, that's been what I've been doing with my nights (okay, technically early mornings, but whatever) after I get bored of failing at Tetris. Just looking at old topics and reviving any of them I feel like reviving and have something relevant to post in.
And I also usually don't use the search function in forums. I've used the one here for various reasons I don't remember (and the quiz), and I used the GameFAQs one to find out about that Combat VII glitch in Mana Khemia or whatever the game was called that had that game-breaking glitch that made Admin really angry, but I think that's it.
