One of the things that I never got about Yugi is Jack.
I don't get Jack.
I mean, all other people have their signature borg be better than the borg that they are based off of (mainly because they have more HP).
Sauske is better than Normal Ninja.
Leopard is better than Normal Tank.
Etc...

However Jack seems inferior to Tar Diver.
What gives?

He's not based off Tar Diver. He's a Jelly Diver.

I believe it was stated somewhere that Jack's bubble was thicker than a Jelly Diver's but slightly weaker than a Tar Diver's?

And Yuji... I don't get him. I never liked him as a character, ally, nor enemy. His... strange... style never appealed to me.

I understand that, but it is irrelevant.
It would be like if they had a Normal Ninja, then they had Sasuke, and then there was a third borg that was everything Sauske was, but his bombs had bigger explosions and more Shuriken.
Even though he is based off of the Normal one he is inferior to an already better version of the same guy (who on top of that is more common, Tar Diver is certainly more common than Jack).

I feel like I am missing something.
Is Jack really supposed to be worse for the sake of a bad joke at the expense of Yuji?
Or does Jack have some nifty thing to him that I haven't found yet?

There is a borg that is exactly like Normal Ninja but better. It's called Double Ninja. Normal<Sasuke<Double just as Jelly<Jack<Tar

The signature borg is better than the borg it's modeled after. It just so happens that in some cases, there is a similar borg that is better than both.

Double Ninja is not necessarily "better" than Normal Ninja on the grounds that it costs more for a small bonus to shot and the ability to clone itself, which isn't that useful.
Also, not all Normal Borgs have that going on.
Not all borgs have a dude that is basically like their normal version and gives the signature borg a run for its money. Normal Ninja is kind of an exception with Double Ninja being close in usefulness.
However, it seems like hands down Tar Diver is better because his bubble slows more.

1) Requires 4 Data Crystals
2) Advantages are negligible at best
3) Weaker slow down effect

1) Superior slow effect
2) Requires only 2 Data Crystals.
Cons:
1) 60 GF Energy more than Jack
2) 20 Less HP than Jack

For a mere cost of 60 GF energy, you have a stronger borg. Jack's only useful advantage is his barely noticeable 20 hp increase, and his slightly lower cost.

I suppose he'd be better if you truly need to conserve your GF energy, but Tar Diver is superior in most ways due to his X Special being stronger. Jack, in my opinion, is only useful if you need something stronger than Jelly Diver, but not as expensive as Tar Diver, or if you really need that extra HP boost. So if you're in a v.s. match with a set GF energy limit, or don't have enough for a Tar Diver in story mode, go for Jack.

Other than that, stay away from him. He's just a special case where Borg 1.0> Partner Borg > Borg 2.0 is true.

Also, Yuji is the only GF Commander with a DEATH BORG. EPIC, and an ICBM, no less! His divers also help me when i'm using ranged borgs.

So im playing in the defeat the bombing unit mission and i was using yuji as my partner(as i sometimes do bc he is awesome and hilarious) and his borg gets killed by a walking bomb. His exact quote and i kid not was "hmmm what does this button do?" I almost peed on myself from laughter. Greatest ally ever. Oh and yea this prolly should be in the yuji appreciation thread but i couldnt be bothered to find it. Because i had to share this awesomness with you all immediately. ;D
