They are all awesome, but Sho
mainly because, despite having a voice that DOES NOT SUIT HIM his voice sounds... sincere. his arrogant comments like 'is that all you've got!' isn't fighting talk, like Nekobe who says these sorts of things but is really just a coward. he honestly conveys to me a feeling that he really does think you're absolutely week and useless.
I use Usagi until i can get Orochi and Sho
Orochi comes close second to Sho.

Yeah, Kotaro is surprisingly awesome in special mode.
I find myself using Usagi a lot before I get Orochi and Sho, and I also like using Nekobe.
Actually, I've been using nearly all of them for a while now, (except Kitsune and his annoying magnet robots) but Orochi and Sho will always be my favorites.

I personally think that Kitsune is pretty useful.
He causes the enemies to bunch up and fail.
Like shooting fish in a barrel. (that is if you are using a ranged unit. melee characters should use their spin attacks)
The rest of the time Eh does a solid job and doesn't afraid of anything.

Yeah, it bunches up those enemies just fine, the problem is that your among the enemies that get sucked in.

Tetsuya! he's actually pretty strong, though he does get in the way a bit sometimes  But overall he can hold his own weight in a battle |

I fly solo when I can, but I concur with tmaster: Tetsuya is a solid choice. Compared to the others, Mr Musha Borg just seems to 'get his job done', you know?
Tsutomu is also a solid choice for me, since his use of tank borgs can bring a good portion of heavy fire power while mostly staying out of the way (unlike >some< fortress-wielding giant-laser-team-killing commanders out there).
The only reason why I don't include Sho and Orochi - despite them being excellent choices - is because of how annoying they can be before they join the team. Orochi's use of Ice/Cosmic Dragons and Chrono Samurai against my party just rubbed me the wrong way. And don't even get me started on Sho; have you ever been hit by a Blade Wing's blade after it passes through a few red bubbles from Sho's previous Jet Hero? That thing took out my Sirius in one shot! The jerk...

Hmm, lets see, mana is great when her healing hits you, tama is awesome when he doesnt hit you. Orochi is just genreally good, and tsutomo is wack and always takes my last kill with his crappy yellow tank.

Have you ever tried using the Patra Witch in combonation with tetsuya's samurais (preferably normal samurai). He kicks all the butt, that ever existed. EVER!

my favorites
1: Sho - fantastic Borgs can get in my way
2: Orochi - fantastic Borgs but there HP aren't as high as i though
3: Tama - strong Borg but don't have many
4: Kakeru - fantastic Borgs but there HP are extremely low.
5: Tetsuya - grate Borgs can get in my way
6: Nekobe - grate Borgs can get in my way and can target me
7: Kotoro - good Borgs very low HP
8: Usagi - good Borgs very low HP
9: Tsutomu - good Borgs can decide not to do much
10: Met - ok Borgs and ok HP
11: Mana - ok Borgs very low HP can heal me or the opponents
12: Kitsune - grate borgs but ruined by magnet robot (+)
13: Yuji - S**** Borgs

Usagi. She can actually laser spam reasonably well, is available to select very early on, and upgrades her borgs pretty frequently (unlike, say, Kotaro, who only gets his Beam Gunner very very very late into the game).
She also has access to Barrier Girl and Command Girl, which aren't just borgs that i like using, but are also great for racking up damage.
Sho comes next, and then Orochi.
