I'm pretty sure Akuma's grow with every slice of the sword. Both Demon and Akuma Samurai's swords grow in length when it is on the battle field and another unit is defeated. You can see a little purple soul come out of the exploding unit and enter Demon/Akuma Samurai's body. Then their swords get longer.

I think the swords cap after a point, but even suffering the cap you can still reach literally halfway across the stage with your swords.

Although if someone wants to test out the per hit thing, they could go Akuma vs. Sirius and report the results.

Fighting Akuma's/Demon's is so stressful with a melee borg. Like on that one stage where a ton of death bombs keep blowing themselves up and powering up Akuma with their souls, all you can do is watch as those purple spirits fly past you and make him that much stronger and a pain to deal with.
On topic, I got a silver Time Bomber and a shadow Beta on my first playthrough. I also got a silver Beam Gunner data crystal on my first playthrough (it was my first time seeing one, and I was freaked out because I didn't know what it was, but it was shiny and hit hard lol). Since then, I haven't gotten anything other than crystals :/ sucks. At least they look cool.

I just tested it to make sure and his swords only grow when a unit on the battle field is defeated. They do not grow simply from hitting borgs.

I feel like it grows a lot more from a Death Arc than from 5 Alphas.

Akuma Samurai's swords grow the same amount regardless of if Sirius or a Roach dies.

If you and an enemy both have a demon/akuma samurai, will the soul thingy go to the person the killed the borg in the first place, or is it random?

Chrono Samurai can be found at Protect the Death Crystal (Your Home), Coop with Sho to defeat Orochi (Serenity Street), and The Decisive Battle! Defeat the Cosmic Dragon! (Greater Tricity Area).
He can also randomly show up at Cooperate with Orochi to defeat the Death Force unit! (Little Hill) and Cooperate with ?? to defeat the Death Force unit! (Stone River).

I recently started using Normal Knight, and Shadow girl, and Metal Hero, without his power-suit-whatchamacallit. I've gotten really into close-range borgs, and I also love handicapping myself with close range borgs when I fight longer range borgs, because it adds that extra hint of challenge. Ever tried beating a bunch of orange and blue fighters with post-transformation metal hero? Don't do it. Ever.
Stupid blue fighter and his stupid shots and stupid missiles and stupid everything!
I've also started using death-borgs, whole teams of them, it's another way of handicapping myself and feeling how hard it actually would be to defend a planet from them if there were hundreds of them, plus, I love being cannon-fodder in games, it lets me experience being a standard foot-trooper, not a god of death who shall rain pain on all his foes with a single lift of his eyebrow.
My favorite is the female melee death borg with the pony-tail boosters. Because girls are awesome when they wanna be.

This is a great thread and all, and I can see it's facilitated a lot of discussion- but I can't help but notice it's gotten a bit derailed. I mean for the purposes of showcasing everyone's rare borgs, it kind of gets lost in a sea of banter. Perhaps a second(ary) thread where the only posts are lists and / or pictures of said borgs might be in order?

Threads get derailed all the time around here, it's not really a concern. They inevitably go back to normal when the derailing discussion ends and somebody makes an on-topic post about how I ran into a gold Victory Machine yesterday. (Which actually did happen, I didn't just pull an example from nowhere.)

(Which actually did happen, I didn't just pull an example from nowhere.) I mostly meant that it seems like the thread went from orderly lists that you can simply edit on later acquiring a new borg to a more blog style with tangents about other things.
Perhaps an alternative to a whole new thread is just editing the OP or one of the other posts on the front page to include links to any lists posted but lost in the 35-odd pages?

To the best of my knowledge the lists were just a consequence of new people having a lot of them they haven't mentioned yet, not a conscious effort to keep a running list of anyone's stuff. So it's always been in the format of "Hey, I got a silver Megaton Robot," it's just that when a new member pops up they have a history of a certain length to post about, and that's where the lists come from. (Also I'm glad I've been not bothering to post in this thread for a while, now I have a relatively large number of examples to pull from not-nowhere.) ... *looks back at list* Wow, I seriously had 56 rare Borgs back then? Neat.
